Ron, Harry, Hermione and I were on our way down to Hagrid's but on our way we saw the executioner sharpening his axe. I glared at him and kept walking. We were just about off the bridge.
"I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak that's just too horrible" Hermione said.
"It just got worse" Ron said as we walked into the open. Draco and his followers were standing there laughing and joking about Buckbeak's death. My head got hot and Hermione looked at me with concern in her eyes. I stormed towards them.
"I can't believe I thought I could trust you!" I yelled as Malfoy turned around. I swear I saw guilt flash across his eyes but he covered that up quickly.
"Ah, come to see the show" He said. That made me angrier. I saw my hair turn full on red out of the corner of my eye.
"You foul, loathsome, evil, little cockroach!" I yelled pulling out my wand an aiming at his neck. He was whimpering like the wuss that he was.
"Evangeline no! He's not worth it" Ron said. I reluctantly lowered my wand and turned to walk away. I had only taken a few steps when I heard Malfoy continue to laugh. Before I could react I heard a crack and a grunt of pain. I whipped around to see that Hermione had just punched him right in the nose. I was shocked. He looked like he was about to charge at Hermione but I stepped in front of her, eyes burning into him. He got the hint and they all ran away, Malfoy clutching his now broken and bleeding nose.
"That felt good" Hermione admitted.
"Not good. Brilliant!" Ron said. I smiled and we kept walking to casa De Hagrid. The whole atmosphere was rather depressing. There were crows everywhere, clouds were covering the sky not letting even the littlest bit of sunshine through and everything looked really dull and lifeless. Hagrid made us some tea and rock cakes which were, as the name suggests, like rocks.
"Why don't we just set him free?" Harry asked.
"They'd know i' was me. Dumbledore would get in ter trouble. He's coming down, Dumbledore. Said he wants ter be with me when they...When i' happens" Hagrid said. "Grea' man Dumbledore. Grea' man"
"We'll stay with you too Hagrid" I said.
"You'll do no such thing. Think I wan' you seeing somethin' like tha'" Hagrid protested. "No, yeh just drink your tea an' be off. Oh an' before yeh do, Ron" Hagrid added walking over to a tin. He pulled out a fat, grey rat.
"Scabbers! You're alive" Ron exclaimed happily.
"Wanna keep a closer eye on yeh pets Ron" Hagrid said.
"I think that means you owe someone an apology" Hermione said.
"Right, next time I see Crookshanks, I'll let him know" Ron replied sarcastically.
"I meant me!" Hermione said. Suddenly the vase I was sitting next to shattered.
"Blimey! Wha' was tha'" Hagrid exclaimed. Hermione walked over and picked up a rock and studied it.
"Ow!" Harry yelped not long after. He turned to see where it came from "Hagrid" Harry said. Dumbledore, Fudge and the executioner were walking down here.
"Crickey. It's late. It's nearly dark. You shouldn' be here" Hagrid panicked. "If someone sees yeh this time o' night you'll be in trouble, Big trouble particularly you Harry." Hagrid said. There was banging on the door. "Be with you in a momen'" Hagrid called. "Quick, quick!" Hagrid said ushering us out the back door.
"Hagrid" I said. "It'll be fine. It'll be okay" Hagrid nodded and kept pushing me out the door. We came out as they were going in and ran over and hid behind the giant pumpkin patch. I heard a twig snap and Hermione span around.
"What?" I asked.
"I thought I just saw...nevermind" Hermione said.
"Let's go!" Ron said. We ran back up to the path and I turned to look at Buckbeak one last time.
"Evangeline" Buckbeak said glumly.
"Don't worry. Everything will be fine. I promise" I cooed letting a stray tear escape my eye and roll down my cheek.
"Come on" Harry said grabbing my arm. I didn't take my eyes off Buckbeak's until about halfway up to the bridge when I tripped on a rock and it forced me to look where I was going. Once we reached the bridge we stopped. I could only see pumpkins from up there. I watched as the executioner walked over to where Buckbeak was in the pumpkin patch. He raised the axe and it landed with a thump, making the crows fly off in all directions. I let the tears fall freely as I cried into Harry's shoulder.
"Ow!" Ron said dropping Scabbers. "He bit me!" Scabbers started running away. "Scabbers!"Ron called, running after his rat.
"Ron!" We all yelled numerous times but he kept running after his rat.
"Scabbers come back!" Ron yelled completely ignoring us. Ron caught Scabbers under the whomping willow.
"Oh no" I said.
"Harry, you do realise what tree this is" Hermione said.
"That's not good" Harry said. "Ron Run!" Harry yelled.
"Harry, Ang, Hermione run!" Ron yelled pointing behind us. I turned and saw the dog I saw in the forbidden forest. It growled and started running towards us but then jumped over us and bit into Ron's leg and started dragging him into an opening at the bottom of the whomping willow. He started screaming for help.
"Ron!" We all yelled out of sync but the big, black dog dragged him away. I couldn't let him get away with Ron. I changed into my animagus form and ran into the hole after Ron, dodging the murderous branches on the way.
