Chapter Forty Two

Niall's P.O.V

I sat on the floor with Emma while she laid on her stomach. She kept grabbing at the stuffed monkey laying a few inches in front of her. I looked over to the clock on wall, seeing it read 2:47 pm. It was almost time feed Emma and put her down for her afternoon nap.

"C'mon munchkin, let's go warm up your bottle." I smiled, picking Emma up and bringing her to the kitchen with me. I walked to the back door to let Cooper in. He came running through the kitchen, making little Emma squeal at his arrival. She clapped her hands and Cooper was quick to take his place next to her. I smiled at the two of them, Cooper is amazing with Emma. He's started to sleep in her room every night, which works out for Liam and I. After the bottle was warm enough, I took Emma to the living room to feed her. Sitting on the couch, holding the bottle, she suckled, staring at me with wide eyes. Cooper took a seat on the couch next to me, laying his head on my lap. I began to sing softly hoping it would sooth Emma to sleep.

After singing the entire song, Emma was fast asleep. I pat Cooper on his belly signaling him to get up. I laid Emma in her cot that was set up in the living room. Walking to the kitchen I grabbed an apple, eating it.

Emma woke up right when I began making dinner, a couple hours later. I picked her up and brought her to the kitchen with me, setting her in her high chair then putting the pasta to boil.

After getting everything plated and ready to eat, I waited for Liam. I'm the meantime I played around with Emma a bit. Reading a couple books in the process. Letting Cooper outside again, I looked to the clock, 6:52. Liam's never this late. I picked up my phone, trying to call him. He didn't answer. I sigh, staring at Emma. "Well, what now?" I ask as my baby girl stares at me with a small smile growing on her face. I smiled back and she began to laugh. I smiled, letting Cooper back in, bringing my plate of food to the island sitting down next to her.

After eating, I washed dishes before going to take Emma a quick bath, changing her, and putting her to bed. Cooper right there, by the bed, laying on the ground in silence as he knew Emma was sleeping. Walking back downstairs, I go to the kitchen and began putting away leftovers. I was drying the last of the dishes when I felt a pair of arms wrap around me. I jumped slightly, then looking down and seeing Liam's tattoos, I relaxed. "Where where you?" I ask, turning around in his arms.

"Just some late work I had to do. I found your replacement today." Liam said chuckling. I smiled shaking my head.

"No one is ever going to replace me." I said in a 'as a matter of fact' tone, smirking.
