CHAPTER 22:

ZAYN'S POV

After I had, er, borrowed the information about Louis' location from the office, I set out on my motorbike.

And Tanner sure was a smart fucker, I had to take so many twists and turns just to get to the place where the tracker had indicated.

I know I'll get in a shitload of trouble for this, but I don't care. I need to save Louis. End of discussion.

But I can't help but think that this is a bit too easy. Why hadn't Tanner found the tracking device? Well, maybe he had and was leading us to a trap. But it's a risk worth taking.

After almost an hour of driving, the beeping on the tracking monitor increased, indicating I was near. A few minutes of driving later, I reached a secluded building, which was located in a vast and empty field, surrounded by barbed wires. Now this was unusual. 'Cos normally it's quite hard to find empty fields in the great New York city.

I parked my bike in the distance and hopped off it. Keeping my senses alert, I tucked my hand gun in my belt, followed by my spin blades and cutter. Pulling the black mask over my face, I crept towards the building, armed and ready with my second handgun.

Crossing the distance to the building, I hid behind a board of the building, peeking out and surveying the entrance, my eyes sweeping the stretch of area in front of me.

Two burly guards were manning the gate, and I smirked to myself. Too damn easy.

Still maintaining my hidden position behind the board, I loaded my dart gun and looking through the eye view, shot two successive shots at the guard's heads, making them collapse to the floor.

Pulling out my laser cutter, I swiped it across the barbed wires, making a space for me to enter. Sweeping my eyes left and right one more time, I uncrouched and bolted towards the entrance, pushing the glass door open with my foot, keeping the gun aimed.

It was eerily quiet inside the whole building, and I briefly wondered if I was at the right place. I tentatively climbed up the metal stairs, cocking my gun at every sound that I heard.

I passed by rooms after rooms, and all of them were sealed shut. Just was I was about to turn a corner, one of the metal doors cracked open, and a figure stepped out. I hid behind a wall, discreetly peeking at the opened door.

"Sure, sir. Come on four eyes," I heard a voice.

"Hey, you're four eyes too!" I heard the familiar high-pitched voice, which made my heart beat faster. Louis!

"Oh shut up and move it!" The other guy led Louis to a different room, and I debated on whether to follow them or not. But I knew that that certainly wasn't Tanner, and I wanted to meet the fucker, face to face.

A few minutes later, the same guy dragged Louis back to the room, who was stumbling a bit, holding a hand to his forehead, and I clenched my fists. What the fuck did they do to him?

"That hurt so freaking much!" Louis whined, his voice ringing through the hallway.

"God, you're so whiny," the other dude snapped, and pulled him inside the room. And that was my cue to enter. But as soon as I reached the door, it was snapped shut and I cursed. I went around the room, circling it, trying to bust open the other doors, but nothing.

I groaned in frustration, leaning my back against a wall. Suddenly, the wall started to move, and my eyes widened as I stepped away from it. It was a secret door! Wow, how convenient.
