I stood with Officer Vincet in the main room of the funeral home. He was the one who helped me a few nights ago when the world broke beneath my feet. "It's starting, we need to go inside." He tells me. He grabs my hand as I sniffle and walk slowly behind him. Distant family looks at me with sorrowful eyes as I take my seat in the front.
With each prayer tears fall into my folded hands.
I stand next to trooper Vincent as he helps lift my mother's casket and then my father's.
He stays next to me through the whole afternoon as I break down in tears and can barely hold myself up.
After the ceremony is over at the graveyard, I stand next to Officer Vincent.
"Did you guys ever find the murderers?"
He shakes his head, "We've gathered all of the evidence we possibly can on the case, including the dagger that was found outside of the house with the blood of both victims. We're still unable to track them down."
"Poor boy." One of the officers says to him as I look down at my black shoes.
After the other officers walk away, he gets down on one knee. "I just want you to know that your father died a hero. He took the knife for your mum." I nodded as tears stung in my eyes.
In this moment, I knew I wanted to be an officer.
I wanted to find justice.
IVORY
A tear streams down Marie's cheek as I struggle to hold mine in.
"I'm sorry." I curse under my breath. How idiotic am I to ask?
"It's fine. It's helped me become who I am today. Saving lives
After all of that happened, I wanted to be in a different country, so officers and people of the community willingly brought me to an open orphanage here with parents who wanted me. That's how I'm here today."
It was a bit quiet for a while, and Marie scooted over to him and wrapped his arms around her.

"Ivory. I have to bring you to school." Clay whispers while shaking me. I sit up and groan as he hands me a cup of coffee. "Thank you." I sniffle sleepily as I take a sip. French Vanilla. I smile to myself and get up. "I don't have any clothes and I only have 20 minutes." I say as he follows me up the stairs. "Hold on." He says as I walk into the bathroom. I grab his brush, shrug sleepily to myself, and begin brushing my hair. I hope he doesn't mind.
He comes back in the room with a pair of adidas joggers and a blue adidas shirt. "Is this good?" He asks me. "If it fits, yes." I giggle. He steps out while I slip it on.
"Seems to fit well." He says while observing me. I lift my shirt to show my exposed hip bones as the joggers hang incredibly low. "Well no one will see that." He shrugs. "True." I say while sipping on my coffee. "We better go, or you will be late." He informs me. I follow him down the stairs with my clothes from the previous night as we get into his car.
"Thank you. I enjoyed it." I tell him kindly as he drops me off. "No problem. I'll talk to you soon." I nod while closing the door and heading to my class.
Marie picks me up and brings me to Andy's. As soon as Iget home, Crow comes crawling to my feet. No words have come from Andy.

I'm sitting on the couch excitedly. Andy is finally on his way back from the airport! I hug Crow and swing him around. "Daddy is coming home!" I tell him. He gives me the bug eyed look, basically telling me that I'm crazy. I laugh and put him down. I skip to the door in a big sweater I got from Andy's closet and some of my extra stretchy light wash jeans. I see him get out of the back of Ashley's car. I wave to him and he waves kindly back. Andy grabs his things and I run to him, giving him the worlds biggest hug.
I'm so glad he's back. I was falling apart without him.
That apartment gets pretty lonely. I just kept staring at the brick wall.
He pats my back and I release him. He turns to Ashley to give him a wave goodbye. I skip up to the door as Andy drags his suitcase behind me.
"I'm so glad you're home." I say while wrapping my arms around his neck.
He puts his hands on my hips and exhales. I look at his face and his eyes are screwed shut. "What is it?" I ask him while running my thumb over his cheek. He opens his eyes and they look very red and slightly swollen. My heart rips a little. "What's going on?"
"I can't do this." He chokes. I flinch and pull my arms away. "What do you mea-"
"Leave." He says while putting his hand up. My jaw drops. "Andy..." I trail off. His fists are clenched. "Did I do somet-" "No." He growls. "Just leave."
I need a reason. I'm not just going to walk out on this. I love him.
"Tell me and I can maybe hel-"
"GET OUT OF MY FUCKING APARTMENT IVORY! IS IT NOT CLEAR THAT I DONT WANT YOU HEAR? GET YOUR THINGS AND GO!" He yells while slamming his fist on the table. Crow runs upstairs and I clench my jaw. I follow, grabbing one of his spare bags and shoving all of my stuff in it, not caring to be neat. I slip my shoes on being completely ready to leave so he can't break my heart anymore.
I walk to the door and his eyes dart to me. There's definitely something wrong. His body looks worn and weak and underneath his eyes is also a lot darker than it used to be. The red eyes... Something is incredibly wrong.
"I love you." I say while grabbing the doorknob.
"I don't love you. I never did." He spits. I stiffen, but hold myself together. I take a step out of the door and he speaks again.
"Don't ever come back"
I turn to him, his hands still clenched in fists and they seem to be bruised and scabbed.
"I wouldn't dream of it."
