The Killers - part 1

chapter 20

Josie POV

I was running around the house being chased by brian, i pranced around the kitchen bench, staying out of brains reach, my hair flowing behind me. There was someone here, i dunno who, she was with john by the looks of it, i cant get distracted, im running away from brian which is difficult as it is.

I decided to divert away from the kitchen and ran away from the congregation of people, brian followed me so i changed course abruptly and went into the bathroom, luckily it had a lock on the door. I pushed my body weight against the door to keep him out, the door knob giggling as i tried to lock the door.

I managed to get it, the knob stopped moving so i moved away from the door. I opened my hand to reveal the box, it was soft and pretty, blue was such a nice colour, especially this dark velvet blue.

“Josephine Rose Thornton... OPEN THIS BLOOFY DOOR NOW!!”

Brian yelled from behind the door, smashing his hands against it, i opened the box, but was too enthralled in laughing at what he had just said, bloofy, he always muddled up his words when angry, i knew i shouldn’t laugh but its funny.

I looked down into my hands still laughing, him saying bloofy ringing in my ears. There was a glimmer within the box, something shiny was in the box, god dammit, i cant see it from here, my glasses were in the room but this is the only chance ill get to look at whatever brian is so desperately trying to hide from me.

I took the object and placed it into the palm of my hand, and closely examined it. It glimmering in the light, it blinded me at first then my eyes adjusted, i couldn’t believe what i held in my hand, i stopped laughing as i was lost for words.

It was a ring, a diamond in the centre, and a few smaller ones on each side of the center diamond, causing it to glimmering like a disco ball in the light, shards of light bouncing off every angle of it. On the inside was inscribed something in very cursive writing, as though brian had wrote it himself.

‘constant as the stars above, always know that you are loved’

It read, i didn’t know what to feel, i was mixed with emotions, happiness, overwhelmed... i dunno what was going through my head, it was all so confusing.

“Jo, are you alright?”

He asked getting really concerned, i must have been overally quiet, but who wouldn’t, i didn’t know how to react, its not everyday that this happens, only once in a life-time and i had just ruined it basically.

I let out a squeal, not knowing what else to do, i didn’t move from the spot in which i was standing, i carefully put the ring back into the box and closed it.

I opened the door, brian standing in the door way. I handed the box back to him, i didn’t know what else to do, i was somewhat confused and in a trance, not knowing how to act. He reached for my arm but i avoided it, he didn’t try again.

“Josie?... are you ok?”

He asked as i walked further away from him, i was going back up to the room, probably just to stare at the ceiling, not knowing what else to do, he followed me to the stairs keeping his distance though.

Wild one by Suzie quarto came on, i love that song, it took me out of my trance, bringing me back to reality. I was halfway up the stairs when i suddenly turned around and looked down at brian, it was weird looking down at him, normally he is the one to look down at me.

I ran back down the stairs, jumping on the last couple of stairs. Brian quickly held his arms out so he could catch me and i threw my arms around his neck. No talking i just hugged him, like a koala would and never going to let go.
