My Brother's Best Friend

Chapter 7

Bethany's POV

I walk in class and sit my books down. When the bell rings Blake comes in and sits in his and son after Aaron enters the room. He looks around for a seat and his eyes land on me. He smiles and walks to the empty seat next to me.

"Hey" he says as he sits down

"Hey" I smile

Out of the corner of my eye I can see Blake watching us. Aaron takes his pen and notebook out.

"I'm glad I know at least one person in this class" he chuckles

"Yea this class is really boring" I laugh

"Well now it's gonna be less boring now since you have me here now" he says sweetly as he takes my hand, making me blush

I look away attempting to hide my blush but as soon as I turn my head I lock eyes with Blake. I advert my eyes and look back at Aaron, who obviously sees my blush. I turn to face forward and take out my things as the teacher walks in.

"Ok class today I'm assigning partners for a project" Mrs. Reed says "This project has two parts. The first part, you and your partner are going to pretend that you are a married couple, have careers and you're going to plan a budget based on the careers you have then you're going to turn the first part in, then for the second part, you will be given a baby to take care of and you and your partner are going to manage your budget with the baby" she says holding up a baby doll "This baby cries, laughs, pees, poops, and will need to be fed, held, just like a real baby. There are sensors in them that goes into a program on the computer so I will know if you are really taking care of the baby"

I cautiously look back and quickly look forward again when I see that Blake is watching me.

"This is home economics so you will learn how to manage a household as well as cook, and more" The teacher says "Now I will give you packets for the project. One for the first part, and one for the last part. You will also have to present to the class after the project is over. now the partners are..." she continues listing off he partners

"Aaron and Sarah. And finally, Blake and Bethany" she says making me look up

My eyes open wide and my mouth drops. I quickly shut my mouth so no one will notice. I look down at my lap as she begins to talk again

"You will have the 1st quarter so 8 weeks to complete the first part since the research is very extensive. You are expected to work on this outside of school as well. I will be handing out the packets and on each packet there is a career written at the top which will be the career you will research" she says picking up the packets and start giving them out

She gives me a packet with clinical nurse specialist written at the top right corner.

"Ok everyone go to your partners and discuss your careers and when and where you will meet to work on the project"

Moments later Blake sits next to me and shows me his paper which says gym teacher. I show him mine and he nods.

"So I think we should take turns from going to your house and mine" he says

"Ok and we have 2 months so we can meet two or three times a week" I say

"Sounds like a plan" he says looking at me intently

"Great" I say before raising my hand needing to go to the bathroom "Mrs. Reed can I go to the bathroom please?"

"Go ahead" she says

I sigh and gather my things.cI walk out the room and to the bathroom. I go pee before wiping and flushing, as well as washing my hands. I pick up my things and exit the bathroom as the bell rings. I walk to my locker and put in the combination. Amber comes up beside me giving me a big smile.
