My Brother's Best Friend

Chapter 29

~17 weeks pregnant~

"Hey" Blake says coming in my room as I'm doing homework

"Hey" I reply looking up

"What are you doing?" he asks

"Homework" I say pointing to my papers on the bed

"Well duh. I meant after" He says

"Oh. Well I don't know yet" I say

"Then it's settled we're going baby shopping" he says sitting down at my desk

"Uh ok" I laugh

For the next hour I try to concentrate on my homework while Blake takes care of the fake baby that we were assigned. As soon as I finish my homework Blake drags me up and out of my room.

"What are you doing?" I ask "I still have to get ready"

"You look fine" he says as we go down the steps

"But I still need shoes" I state

"You have some down here" he says

"No I don't all of y shoes are upstairs" I laugh

"Then why is this here?" he asks pointing the my moccasins by the kitchen counter

"Oh" I pick up my shoes and put them on

He leads me outside to his car and unlocks the doors before putting the fake baby in my arms and getting in the driver's seat. He backs out the driveway and starts driving towards the mall. I look down at my bump that's grown so much in the past few weeks.

I feel a twitch in my stomach and smile as I rub it lightly. Lately the twitches have been getting more and more prominent. It's been feeling less of twitches and more like light kicks. Hopefully soon other people will be able to feel the baby move. Right now it's a little too light for other people to feel or see.

Soon we park in the mall parking lot. We get out and walk towards babies-r-us. We look around the dressers and look at the prices. We decide on a brown one that has a changing table on top of it because it was in our pricing range. We also look at the rocking chairs and decide on one with brown bars and white cushion that was only $50. We take the things to the check out and the total comes up to $200. I pull out $50 and give it to Blake for some of the stuff but he hands it back to me.

"I told you I have this" he says handing the cashier the money

"I just feel bad I don't have a job and I want to help" I sigh

"You are helping by taking care of our child"He says "Now I'm starving let's go get some food"

"I'm down" I laugh

We walk over to chick-fil-a and order some food before sitting down and waiting for our number to be called. Once we have our food I take a bite of my spicy chicken sandwich and almost moan at the deliciousness. I take a drink of my cookies and cream milkshake to wash the food down.

"Thank you for today" I smile

"No problem" He smiles "So I'll take the fake baby for the rest of the time"

"Ok" I say

"So Christmas is almost here" he says

"I know" I smile "Excited?"

"I don't know" He laughs "I just want to know what the sex of the baby is right now"

"Me too" I smile "I just want to buy all the stuff now but they're expensive"

"I know" he says

Once we finish eating we decide to go back to my house. On the way there I rub my stomach and look out the window. When we arrive at my house I call Josh and sk him to help get the things because I can't carry heavy things.
