Chapter 5

Monday morning

"Alex time for school" my mom screamed walking me up.

I groaned and rolled out of bed and did my usual morning routine. I spent most of the weekend at Riley's clearing my head and just trying to forget everything.

I haven't talked to Kyle or anyone since Friday night so I'm not looking forward to today.

I put on black legging , a grey crop top sweatshirt and my white converse. I threw my hair in a bun and applied a little makeup. I didn't feel like trying today . I grabbed my phone and backpack and headed downstairs.

I walked downstairs and grabbed a granola bar out of the cupboard.

"Can you give me a ride to school" I asked my mom and then took a bite out of the granola bar.

"Your not walking with Kyle" she asked surprised.

I shook my head no.

"Yeah of course we'll leave in ten" she said walking upstairs to get dressed. 

I sat on the couch scrolling through my phone and eating my granola bar. I have 100 missed calls and texts from Kyle. I've been ignoring him all weekend and I plan to at school too.

"Your still here?" Jonah asked me after he walked down the stairs

"Yeah moms giving me a ride too" I said

"Oh your gonna be apart of this family now" he said with an attitude.

I just looked at him. He's never said anything like that to me before.

"You guys ready"  my mom asked walking down the stairs.

"Yup" Jonah said and then walked outside.

"What's wrong with him?" Mom asked

"Nothing lets just go" I said grabbing my bag and walking towards the door.

I got into the passenger seat and mom started driving to the school. I starred out the window thinking about what Jonah said. He's right I haven't been around much. I'm always smoking with my "friends". 

We were half way to school when my mom asked "you okay sweetie. Your really quiet."

"Yeah I'm fine" I said faking a smile.

We pulled up to school and me and Jonah got out and walked in.

"Have a good day" I said before he went up to the freshman floor

"You too" he said blankly and ran off.

I didn't know where everybody was and I wasn't really worried about finding them. I walked to my locker and got my books for the day.

I slammed the door shut and Nash was standing behind it causing me to jump.

"You scared the shit out of me" I said placing my hand on my chest

"Sorry" he said laughing a bit

We stood there in silence.

"I know you can't stand me. I don't know why but I just wanted to see if you were okay. Everyone's worried about you because they haven't heard from you all weekend" he said making me feel bad.

"It's not that I can't stand you. And I'm fine thanks for asking" I smiled at the end and started walking away.

"So what is it then" he asked following me

I really don't know what it is. He hadn't given me a reason not to like him. He hasn't been anything but nice to me and care about me. Even though he doesn't know me.

"I don't know I just don't know you" I said

"So get to know me" he said looking at me.

I stood there starring at him. I got lost in his eyes. He so hot.

The first period bell rang

"I-i gotta go" I said jumping back to reality and walking away.

I walked into first period and of course Kyle was in there.  He looked like complete shit. I mean I thought I looked bad but damn he's a mess. I sat down paying no attention to him.

Half way through class I got a text from Riley

Hey where are you?

Me
Class hbu

Riley
The car lot. Where were you this morning? And since when do you go to class😂

Me
Wasn't feeling it today

Riley
You're always feeling it. What's going on with you. I'm starting to get worried

Me
Nothing Riley I'm fine I have to go I'll talk to you at lunch.

I locked my phone and slipped it back into my pocket. I was trying to pay attention to class for once so I can actually graduate. But all I could think about was Nash. Maybe I should get to know him. Maybe he'll make everything better.

The bell rang interrupting my thoughts. I tried walking out of class before Kyle grabbed me arm and pulled me aside.

"I sent you a bunch of  texts. Can we please talk" he begged

"I got them" I said ripping my arm away from him. "And no we can't" I said and walked away.

Thank god next period was a free period. I walked to the library and was surprised to see Nash sitting at a table.

Here goes nothing I thought and walked over to the table.

"What are you doing here?" I asked as nicely as possible. I've had this free period all year and he's never been in here.

"My teachers absent so they gave us a free period. Sit" he smiled gesturing to the chair.

I hesitantly sat across from him. He leant back in his chair and just stared at me

"Okay you have to stop with the starring" I said laughing a little

"Sorry I can't help it your so beautiful" he said really fast.

"What?" I said surprised

"What?" He said mocking me

"What did you say" I said

"Nothing" he smiled

His smile was perfect. His eyes were perfect. He was perfect. Fuck it I thought

"So tell me about yourself then" I said
