Chapter 5
The bell rang forcing me to wake up. I rubbed my eyes as I realized my psychology class was done with. Grabbing my stuff, I made my way outside the class room to my locker. I dumped the books in and made it to the changing room. Erna brought her tank top and shorts while I brought sweats pant for PE. We changed into those wasting no time and headed to the Gym class.
The teacher was waiting for us with a handball. Mm, I loved sports. On the second thought, who doesn’t?
“So, I was planning on making you all play handball but seeing the number I think we’d go for volleyball.” He started.
I heard some of the students growl while some seemed happy.
“Now that it’s an even number, there will be two groups A and B. Among them there will be sub-groups playing against each other. Right, now stand according to your height. I am gonna sort you all out” He said throwing away the ball and walking towards us. He searched for someone and his eyes landed on me, “You, will you go and get three balls? You may take someone with you”
I didn’t answer. I didn’t even know where the balls were.
“I’ll help her out” Someone said. I turned around to look at them. There he was standing right in front me.
“Umm no it’s—”
“Good, Aaron. Go on now, we have wasted enough time” The sir cut me off.
Aaron gestured me to follow him with a grin. I just put a hand on my fore head and followed him back. Why did it have to be me or to be more precise, him? I followed him all the way down the stairs and through the hallway. None of us spoke and to be honest I wasn’t expecting that. Even silence kills.
“We meet again, Lizzie”
Every time he said my name, I felt my heart skip a beat. It was not helping the situation.
“Are you stalking me?” I asked not trying to bring in any humour.
He chuckled, “What if I say yes?”
“What if I remind you that you’re committed?” I said not feeling a bit guilty. He didn’t reply.
“Why are you so different?” He asked.
“I’ll take that as a compliment” I said before stooping to pick the balls from the box and make my way out again. I started walking a little faster.
“Slow down, why are you in a rush?”
I chuckled realizing we just kept asking questions the whole time. I didn’t reply as we already made it to the gym room and I handed the balls to the teacher. Soon, we were given our groups and started to play our volley ball. And by the end of the class, I was pretty sure Aaron was one hell of a good player. I played against his group too and it was fun.
Did I just say fun? I have never thought I’d actually call something fun. Does this mean… I looked up at Aaron as he stared back at me with a smirk probably teasing me for his victory. I rolled my eyes and looked away.
“Come on Lizzie, we’re done with the class” Erna said catching my hands and dragging me with her.
We walked outside the gym room to get changed in our normal clothes when I heard Aaron’s voice calling my name. I turned back to look at him.
“Now what?” I asked.
“I am not stalking you. It’s just…”
I raised an eyebrow at him.
