Chapter 3

I looked around everywhere as I stood in the airport of London. This was the first time after his death that I was actually scared. I wanted mom to take me back but I knew she can’t give up on this big chance to expand her business. I wasn’t even that heartless too. But I was intimated by the fact of coming across things I swore to never look at. My train of thoughts was interrupted by my mom’s voice.

“Honey?”

I turned to look at her.

“I have been calling your name for a minute now. Are you okay?” She asked concern filling her face.

“I am all good. Let me help you with that bag” I said trying to divert the topic.

Soon, we hired a taxi, got into it, and made our way to a hotel. Right now, she booked a hotel for us. She said she’ll get us a house in a day or two. She also filled the application forms of a new school for me. I was ordered to join it right away so that my studies won’t be messed up.

I unlocked the door to my room and stepped in with my luggage. I looked around and it smelled of chocolate. I placed my bags to the corner and walked towards the window. Moving the curtains away, I looked outside. It was a beautiful view of London night. Everything glittered and the weather too was very friendly. I turned away and sat on my bed Indian style. I sighed as the clock filled the room with melody making me realize it was 8 already. I was very tired after all the packing and the voyage so I lied down on the bed and fell asleep.

I woke up with the chirping of the birds outside my window. I forgot to close it last night. It was morning already. I looked at the clock as it showed me the time. It was 7:12 a.m. I looked down to see myself immersed in a cozy quilt. Mom must have put this on me while I was sleeping. Yawning, I moved it away and made my way to the washroom. Taking the tooth brush she left for me, I started brushing my teeth looking at myself into the mirror. My brown hair fell perfectly to my breasts and my iris glittered perfect amber. I combed my hair and tied it into a messy ponytail. Picking up a random dress from my suitcase, I got ready. My mom entered the room with a tray.

“Good morning, honey. Here’s your breakfast. I’ll be leaving for work after dropping you off to your school. Get ready quickly.” She placed it on my table and left.

I sighed. Will I ever be able to take a day off from my school in the presence of such a mother? I mean she isn’t bad but she never lets me take a day off and neither will she. She’s a perfect mother and can be a perfect wife too.

I ate my breakfast quickly and walked outside with my school bag. I didn’t have any book but for a rough copy. I had to buy them at school today and boy was I seriously uninterested. It was going to be a totally new day in this city and I didn’t even get a good night sleep.
