Chapter 9 The Regionals
I took a deep breath when the music started to play. I might have been late for my first ever junior figure skating competition but that doesn’t have to do anything with my performance. And I have decided that starting today I am going to give my best only towards ice skating and win the National Championship. Whether I win it or not I need the entry into the Olympics. And I promise, father, that I will fulfill your dreams. With that, I dived in the world of ice and irony and spread my wings to fly…
30 minutes ago…
Ring…
I lifted my heavy eye lids up and grabbed my mobile. Who’s calling so early on Saturday morning?
“Hello?” I asked in my dozy voice.
“WAKE UP, ELIZABETH! WHY ARE YOU STILL IN BED?!”
Realization struck me like cold water on my sleepy soul.
“I wasn’t, I was just taking a nap. I am already ready. Are you going to pick me up now?”
“I am on my way. Alright then, just come out okay. I am hanging up now” She said.
I got less than 5 minutes to get ready. I had to brush my teeth, take a shower, dry my hair, dress up elegantly and make my face up with glitters and take my breakfast too. Sounds like a fun Saturday morning for me…
When I was done, I grabbed my bag-pack consisting of makeup stuff that I never really used and my figure skates along with a few energy drinks. I took my mobile and rushed downstairs. I had had asked mother to calm Ms. Kiera down and make her wait till I get ready. I really didn’t need any more lecture from her this early in the morning. When I came down, I could see her rage filled eyes. I assumed actually. She was just looking calm and beautiful as usual.
“Hello” I greeted.
“Your mother’s really great at taking care of stuff. So you’re okay for now” She sighed, standing up, “But we are already late for the competition. Yours will be starting in 10 so let’s go”
“What? 10 frigging minutes?!” I asked dumbstruck. Yes, I made her wait for 15 minutes that is after she came but come on you can’t expect me to get ready in a minute? I hurriedly grabbed my bread and started running out. I didn’t even apply my glitters for God’s sake.
“Goodbye Mother” I wished without even hugging her. Too much for going to a competition and not hugging you mother.
“Do your best, my dear. I may come if there’s any time left. But anyways I have faith in you. I might see you at the nationals” She winked. I smiled back getting in the car as Ms. Kiera ignited the engine and we left for the skating club.
