[ Best Friend ]

"Ni minsan ba hindi mo natanong sa sarili mo if worth it ka?" she asked.

He looked at her, sinusubukang basahin ang kanyang isip. Unfortunately, he couldn't. He sighed atsaka linipat ang tingin niya sa malayo. "You'll never know if you're worth it or not. Depende naman yun sa tao and how they see you as."

She cocked her head to the side and pursed her lips. "Well, how do you see me as?"

Napatingin ulit sakanya ang lalaki. Tila ba nabulol ang dila ng lalaki. He couldn't find the right words to say. He could feel his heart beating really fast as if may tinatakbuhan ito. The look on her face only made it worse. Hindi siya makapag-isip ng maayos. But, that moment was long gone when she laughed.

"I'm sorry," she said, her laughter barely waned down. "Jinojoke lang kita. Of course I'm worth it for you.. best friend mo ako diba?"

That moment too, parang pinipiga ang puso ng lalaki. He knew where he stood, and he knew na hanggang doon lang yun. Best friend niya lang. Nothing more, nothing less. It all became clear to him already.

He faked a laugh at umiwas ng tingin. "Of course you are. Anyway," lumunok siya to prevent his voice from cracking. "Balik na tayo sa beach house."

She nodded, smiled and clinged on to his arms. "Tara!"
