Vic's POV
_____
I wasn't sure if Jaime was mad at me, considering the way he'd left the night before. Which, in turn, caused me to not sleep very well. I tossed and turned right out of my bunk and onto the floor.
"Hey, you okay?" Tony asked me. I groaned into the carpet as a response. "I'll take that as a no. You hungry?" I lifted my head.
"I'll eat." I mumbled. Tony stepped over me and went into the front of the bus. I could hear Evie beginning to wake up, and the faint sound of the coffee maker being turned on. I dropped my face back onto the floor.
"Vic? What the hell are you doing?"Mike asked me. I shrugged. "You're an odd one." He stepped over me as well with a light chuckle. I knew Mike was joking and meant no harm. I got to my feet and almost bumped into Jaime.
"Hey, you okay?" He asked me a small grin on his face. So he wasn't upset with me. I nodded.
"Yeah, just, I feel really tired." I told him.
"Oh, you could've slept in my bunk." He said to me sheepishly. I smirked.
"I would've, but you seemed upset with me. And you still haven't told me what's up with you."
"I didn't get a chance to."
"Jaime, tell me now. Okay? No one's around and you have my undivided attention." He looked around us and took a deep breath.
"What I had been trying to tell you was-" He was cut off by the curtain opening, revealing a smirking Jack.
"What are you two doing?" He asked us with a mischievous look on his face.
"Nothing. Or at least nothing that you're thinking of." I said to him firmly. He frowned.
"I interrupted something, didn't I?" He asked quietly. Neither of us responded. "Dammit! I fucking did!"
"What the fuck are you yelling about, Jack?" Alex asked. Jack turned away slightly.
"Jaime and Vic were having a serious conversation and I interrupted it." Jack explained to him.
"Ohh, you look all sad now. C'mere, come sit by your friend, Alex." Alex said to him. Jack disappeared from the curtain leaving me and Jaime again.
"We might as well go out there. Later?" Jiame gave me a quick kiss.
"You keep saying that and it keeps getting pushed back. Are you ever going to tell me?" I was impatient when it came to knowing something about Jaime. Evie had said something to him to set him off. But what? Had she unintentionally insulted him?
"I'm scared to tell you. Because you look so happy with River, and I don't want to taint that." Jaime dropped his eyes. "I love you, Vic. And I want you to be happy, even if it's not with me." He stepped through the curtain and I heard him begin to chat with our friends as if nothing was wrong. I was scared. The thought of not being with Jaime sending chills down my spine. What could Evie have said to him? I sighed, repressed my emotions and stepped through the curtain as well.
Everyone wanted to go out drinking, since we didn't have a show the next day, it seemed like a good plan. I hadn't been drinking as heavily as I had before, so I figured, why the hell not?
"You're going out with them?" Jaime asked me. I nodded.
"Are you?" I asked him. He shook his head.
"Nah, I'm not in a really party mood." He shrugged and plopped down in my bunk. "You'll be careful though, right?" I gazed down into his deep, brown, eyes.
"Yeah. Promise." I said to him. I sat down and curled into him, his body heat surrounding me instantly. "Mmm. You're always so warm." I glanced over my shoulder to find him blushing crimson.
"Uh..okay." He mumbled out. Seeing him all flustered almost made me not want to go out. I glanced down. I let my hand run down his thigh lightly. "B-Babe, what're you doing?"
"Nothing." I spoke innocently. He bit his bottom lip.
"C-Could you s-stop that?"
"Why? Am I turning you on?"
"Dammit. S-Stop, please?"
"Fine, but don't think I'm done." I sat up a little. His face was still red and he was still biting his lip. Fuck, did I really want to go out anymore?
"Vic? Hey, Vic, um, I'm thinking about going out with the guys, and uh, someone needs to watch River." Evie's voice called to me. I slid out of my bunk and went over to her.
"Jaime's not going, so he can watch River." I told her. She grimaced.
"Is anyone else gonna be here?" She asked me, distaste in her words.
"No, I don't think so. But I think Jaime can take care of him by himself."
"Yeah, I don't doubt that, it's just..nevermind." Evie sighed. "I'm not going out."
"What? I don't get it, just leave Jaime to watch River."
"It's okay, I shouldn't be going out anyway, I get far too crazy."
"Evie, you can come with us."
"I don't want to anymore."
"Fine. Whatever." I turned and saw Jaime with a sad expression on his face. "Babe?"
"Please, don't leave me here with her." He said so quietly, that I thought I had imagined it.
"Why not?" I whispered to him as quietly as possible. He shut his eyes tightly.
"Nevermind. I'll be fine." He gave me a forced smile and kissed me gently. He wasn't going to be fine, but I decided not to press the issue. Because I trusted Jaime, and whatever was between him and Evie, I hoped that they'd squash it so we could all move on.
