"This is my home away from home." He said as we walked into his apartment. "I like it." I replied. "Just make yourself at home, I'll be back in a few minutes." He replied going down a hallway. He came back a few minutes later. "So I just got a call and they want me at the shop." He said walking back into the room. "Ok let's go." I told him. "Alright then let's go." He replied and we went to the JGR shop. Erik went to work on his car and I sat on a random stool watching them work and talk.
"Everything's good now." I heard Chris say. "Looks like someone's tired." Chris then said. I cleared a spot and I was laying my head and arms on the bench by his car. "Hey babe." Erik called. "Shhhh I'm sleeping." I told him. "I'm going to get her back to my place." I heard Erik say. "Alright, see you at the track." Chris said before I heard steps coming towards me. "Come on babe, let's go nap at my apartment." He said picking me up. "Let's go sleep." I replied and we went to the car, well Erik did and got me into the car and I fell asleep when Erik started the car.
"Zoey, we gotta go we have a long drive ahead of us." Erik said. "Where are you staying?" I asked. "I decided on my RV." He replied. "Can I stay with you?" I asked. "Of course." He replied. "So I put our suitcases in the car while you were sleeping." He replied grabbing my hand. "Alright now let's go." I replied and we were on our way. "I'm hungry." I said before Erik pulled into some gas station for food.
"Here we are." Erik said. "Hey Erik?" I asked. "Yeah Zoey?" He questioned. "I was wondering, where is this going?" I asked. "Well I'm thinking of spending the rest of my life with you, but we can take things slow if you want." He replied. "Do you really think we are going to end up together forever?" I asked. "Of course, I think about it all the time, I have since last year." He told me. "I've thought the same thing ever since I first noticed you." I admitted.
"So I was thinking we need to go on an actual date." Erik said when we were laying on the bed we got to the track and to his RV a little while ago but we wanted to . "It's been how long since we started dating?" I asked. "Exactly, all this time we've been dating we haven't gone on a date, and I still need to meet your parents." He said. "We can go see my dad now if you want." I said. "Alright, let's go." Erik said grabbing his keys. "Alright." I replied before we left the RV. I gave him the directions to the cemetery and then we were parked by the right one. "Alrighty let's go find my dad." I said. We went to my dad's grave and both sat down and talked for a little bit then after a while I went to visit random gravestones that had no flowers.

Zoey went walking somewhere so I could "talk" to her dad. "Hi John Nemechek, first thing I wanted to say is the NASCAR community has not forgotten about you, well the ones who knew you." I started. "John Hunter your nephew is representing the 8 truck well, But I wanted to talk to you about your daughter Zoey Nemechek, I, well I'm in love with her, don't worry the NASCAR community is making sure I don't mess with Zoey, especially your brother and nephew." I told his gravestone, I guess, unless he can hear me wherever people go after they die.
"I would never hurt her, she makes me happy and I would never do anything to make her unhappy, I plan to spend my life with her, please give me a sign that I can continue to date your daughter, because if you don't want me to, I'll find someone else, but just know I won't want to move on, Zoey's so beautiful, I know she doesn't remember you but she talks about you a lot, and her mom and you are both in her decisions and she's helped me a lot with my dad who has cancer, which I am happy about." I finished. Just then a cardinal flew down and landed on John's gravestone. "Is this your sign a cardinal?" I asked.
Just then I saw her walking back towards me and the bird flew off. "Hey Zoey." I said walking the rest of the way. "Hey Erik." She replied smiling. "Are you ready?" She then asked. "Yeah, I saw a cardinal, it sat on your dad's gravestone." I told her. "Cardinals are a sign of the dead." She said taking my hand. "I told him to give me a sign and I saw one." I told her. "What did you say?" She asked. "That's for me to know and you to never know." I replied smiling. "Fine." She said before stopping. "What?" I asked her. "I was thinking." She said. "About what?" I asked her. "Can you drive us somewhere?" She asked. "Of course." I replied and we left. "Where are we going?" I then asked driving. "My mom's grave." She told me. "Alright where is it?" I asked.
"Wadesboro." She replied. "Alright, we can go see her." I said driving to Wadesboro. "What was she like?" I asked Zoey. "What do you want to know?" She asked. "Just anything." I replied. "She was really friendly, she would have loved you, because you make me happy and that's all she ever wanted, me to be happy." Zoey told me.

"I miss her a lot." I said to Erik when we were just sitting in the car. "Joe's told me that I remind him of her all the time." I then said. "Awe babe, come here." He said trying to hug me in the car. "It's been hard because I was so young." I told him starting to cry.
