I woke up the next morning to no noise which scared me because a child who is almost two should always be making noise, and Erik usually has the TV on. "Erik Landon?" I called walking out of the room. They weren't in the bedrooms so I quickly walked to the living area and no one was there I finally walked into the kitchen and there was a piece of paper on the table. 'Babe, I had to go to the shop, I didn't want to wake you so I also have Landon with me sorry for scaring you if I did because I must have since a mom always wants to know where her child is, I'll be back tonight text JH when you wake up if you want, he said he would pick up Lan and take him back here - E' I read.
I decided to take today off from being a mother because it's a hard thing to do sometimes so I sat back and started to watch TV after texting Erik that he can watch Landon for the day. I had a nice relaxing day just watching TV and doing whatever I wanted and before I knew it I heard Landon and Erik. "Babe, we are back." Erik called. "In the living room." I called back. Landon waddled into the living room with Erik trailing behind him. "There's my baby." I said smiling at him. "Mama, we went to race car." He told me. "You went to the car shop?" I asked him. "Yeah car shop." He replied smiling at me. "Did you be good?" I asked him. "Yes." He replied while I looked at Erik. "He was good, he listened to everyone." He told me. "Good." I replied.
"Where are you going next?" I asked. "Kentucky." He replied. "That sounds fun." I replied. "Yeah, I'll try to win for you and Landon and my team and JGR." He said. "Win win win." Landon replied. "Little monkey aren't you tired?" I asked him. "No no bedtime." He replied. "Yes yes bedtime." I replied looking at him in a kind of way that meant business. "Ok mommy bedtime for me." He said. I took him to get ready for bed and thankfully he fell asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. "You tired him out at the shop." I told Erik when I sat on the couch. "I thought I would be helpful today." He replied. "Well it was very helpful." I replied. "JH was wondering if I could take Landon to watch him race in Las Vegas?" I asked. "Yeah, sure you can." He replied. "Thank you." I said smiling at him.
"Let's pack you up." I told Landon as Erik was out doing whatever. "Where we going?" He asked. "We are watching daddy race." I told him. "Ok, can I take my cars?" He asked. "Of course you can little monkey." I said as we went to his room and packed. "Mommy can I go watch JH race?" He asked. "How about next weekend." I said. "Yeah can we?" He asked. "Sure we can." I said. "Yay." He said smiling at me. When Erik came back he packed said something about leaving early and asked if he could bring Landon with him so I said sure. "JH, are you busy?" I asked after he picked up. "No, so what did Erik say?" He asked. "I can bring Landon." I told him. "Good, come over for dinner." He said. "Alright but Erik has Landon and they are going to Kentucky early." I told him. "Ok that's fine." He replied before I went to my uncle's house.
"So are are things?" Joe asked at dinner. "Erik's gone a lot and half the time he takes Landon with him so I am kind of lonely." I told them. "Yeah, I remember when Joe brought you and JH to the shop I was pretty lonely back then." Andrea said. "I miss the days where I came home from a race weekend when John Hunter really wanted me to watch him race and I would cuddle with Landon, but those days are gone since Erik's been around, Landon doesn't really cuddle with me anymore." I told them. "We would come home and find you on the couch with Landon sleeping on you." Joe said.
I finally got to Kentucky and drove to the track and found Erik's RV. "Erik you in here?" I asked walking into the RV. "Oh shoot." I heard from the bedroom. "Erik?" I asked again. "Go see mommy." I then heard. Landon came running out with a little box in his hand. "Baby I'm not asking you to marry me yet, I want to promise you that I will love you and only you for the rest of my life, you are the only one I want to see when I wake up in the morning and the last beautiful face I see at night." Erik said when he came out of the back room. "Can I have the box Lan?" I asked him and he gave it to me. I put the ring on my finger and hugged Erik. "Oh baby." I said kissing him.
"Anything for my little lady." He replied smiling at me. "So uh is this why you two came down early?" I asked. "Yeah, I wanted this to be special." He replied. "It's very special since you got little monkey involved." I said. "I knew that would be important to you." Erik said. "It is very important to me." I replied smiling. After that we watched TV until bedtime for Lan and I put him to bed then cuddled with Erik on the couch. "I'm so lucky our paths crossed again." Erik randomly said. "I'm happy that our paths crossed back in Martinsville two years ago." I replied. "Tell me, what was his first word?" He randomly asked. "His first word was race, it was one of the times I was home watching the races with him." I told him. "I want to hear the story." He replied.
"It was almost time for the truck race to start and at that time I was carrying him on my hip whenever I left a room so I was talking to him about watching his second cousin race and he repeated race." I told him. "You made sure he's been growing up around racing." He said. "Yeah, I think he really liked you when you raced." I told him. "What does that mean?" He asked. "Whenever the Xfinity race was on back then he was happier when someone said your name." I told him. "He knew there was a bond between us somehow." He sai. "I talked about you a lot to him." I told him. "Good things?" Erik asked. "Only the best." I replied and he smiled.
