"Erik, is this true and if so how do you feel about it?" A reported asked him. "Zoey without my knowledge got a DNA test and it said I am the father, and I have mix emotions, like I am happy that Zoey had my son, a little mad she never told me until now, but I understand she was scared to tell me, I mean what would a NASCAR driver and teenager say when a girl tells him that she's pregnant with his baby, and the girl is also the daughter of a NASCAR driver her mother had to go through the same thing with her and telling John." He said. "Zoey how do you feel about keeping them from each other?" A reporter asked me. "I feel bad, a guy should know that he has a child and a child should know their father and I feel bad but at the same time I was scared I didn't know what to do no one in my family knew what to do and I barely knew who the father was at that time." I explained.
"And Erik is now helping?" Another reporter asked us. "Yes, as much as he has been able to." I said. "What?" The reporter asked. "It's just been a rough time for Erik with his father being sick." I said taking Erik's hand and being careful not to give way to what happened this week until Erik was ready to tell people. After a few more questions we went to the garages to talk to the crew and let them meet Landon and tell them the news of his father. "Hey, everyone I have a bit of news." Erik said and gathered his crew around. "So first thing I wanted to say is that this is Landon, he is our son from some fun we had at Martinsville in two thousand and fourteen." Erik said and I knew I was blushing. "When did you meet him?" One of the crew members asked. "This weekend, my father knew he was my son in time." He said. "In time for what?" Another crew member asked. "My father died on Tuesday." He replied then I grabbed his hand.
"Oh." Someone said before we ended up in a giant group hug. "Let's go get a win for Dave Jones." Chris said. "That's what we need." I said before everyone went back to work. "Here, have some bonding time with our son." I said handing Landon to Erik. "Where are you going?" He asked. "To talk to my family." I said. "Alright, I'll see you later babe." He said before kissing me and I kissed Landon then I was off to see JH. "Hey cousin." I said walking into his garage. "Hey Zoey, how's the little one?" He asked. "Good, he really likes his father." I replied before I got a text. "Landon really likes dad's job." I said showing him the picture of Landon "helping" with the car. "Do you think he's going to start racing?" I asked JH. "Look at his family, on his moms side his grandfather, great uncle and second cousin all race, and then his father also races." JH said.
He is right Landon is in a family full of NASCAR drivers. "Yeah, getting into racing from a young age." I said. "I remember when after races you would text me pictures of him sleeping in front of the TV with the race on in the background and sent captions like 'little guy was watching the race until he fell asleep' and that would make me smile." JH then said. "Yeah, he did like watching races, until he fell asleep." I replied. "Didn't you tell me if Erik won he would smile, even in his sleep?" Joe asked. "Yeah, he did and he also smiled when you two won." I replied. "He knows his family." JH said. "That he does." I replied. "So what's going on?" JH asked. "I wanted the boys to bond." I told them.
"I'm going back to find my boys, I'll see you two later." I said going to find Erik and Landon. "Where are my boys?" I asked Chris walking into the garage. "Landon had to get changed or something." He said. "The hauler?" I asked. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's where they went." He replied before I went to go find them. Erik was talking to some fans signing things while holding Landon and I stopped to watch them. After we was done the started to walk towards me and saw me. "You're Zoey Nemechek." One of the girls said. "Yes I am." I said smiling at them. "Erik just signed our things, he had Landon with him." The other girl said. "Yeah, he's great with his fans no matter who it is." I replied. "Yeah, your son is so cute." The first one said.
"Thank you." I simply replied smiling at the group. "Well I better go check on the boys." I said. "Yes yes, bye." They said. "Bye." I replied before going to the hauler were Erik most likely had Landon. "Erik, where are you?" I asked. "In the back." He called. "You're so good with Landon and the fans." I said sitting beside him. "You saw that?" He asked focused on Landon. "Yeah, you're already just as good a father as yours was." I told him. When he was done he let Landon off the couch and then sat on it, bringing me with him. "Thank you." Erik randomly said. "For what?" I asked confused. "Being there for me with my dad, making me such a handsome boy and simply just being you." He said kissing the side of my head.
"Awe baby." I replied turning so that I could hug him. "It's true." He replied. "Thank you for talking to my parent's grave, giving me such a handsome boy and accidentally kissing me." I then said. "Well, such a beautiful young lady like you, why would I give up the chance." He said. "Erik, let's go practice." Chris said walking into the hauler. "I'll be back in a little bit." He said. "Go fast." I called before he left the hauler. "Do you want to go watch daddy?" I asked. "Yeah daddy." Landon said and we went to go watch Erik. "Let's go eat lunch, then I have last practice and then we can go back to the RV and do whatever." Erik said so that's what we did.
Before drivers meeting started Erik tweeted about his dad passing away which was hard to watch him do. So before the race started people came up to us and talked to Erik about his dad until pre race ceremonies. The race started and Landon stayed up for most of it but he got tired and fell asleep so I brought him back to the RV so he could sleep, Erik came in fourth. Daniel won and dedicated the race to Dave. The next week in Iowa Erik spun out leaving him in P27 and in Daytona he finished P10, in Kentucky P4, and New Hampshire P2, and then Indianapolis P22, now it's time for Iowa again.
