Race Things Chapter 35

"Zoey, you look like a zombie." Gene said. "I need an energy drink or ten." I replied. "No sleep?" He asked. "I woke up from a bad dream and didn't want Erik to be gone in the dream." I told him. "Oh, yeah that's not good, go sit rest a while." He replied sending me to the hauler. I sat on the couch not wanting to go to bed and watched the crew.

*Erik's P.O.V.*

"Mom can you watch Landon I have to go see Zoey." I asked her. "Sure I'll being him back to your apartment on Monday." She replied smiling. "Thank you so much can you being the box too please." I replied then asked hugging her. "What's going on sure I can are you going to do it soon?" She asked. "Zoey had a dream where I was racing and didn't make it out of the race alive and yeah, I was thinking of taking her out to go go karting and then do it at some point during." I told her. "Go tell Landon goodbye, pack then go." She said. "Thank you mom." I replied before going to pack and tell Landon what was going on. "Where you going?" He asked. "Mommy had a bad dream and I have to go see her." I told him. "Oh, I stay I be good." He said. "So is grandma and aunt Linsey going to watch you?" I asked him. "Yes granma watch me." He replied. "I'll see you in a few days." I told him. "Yeah." He replied. "I love you bud, and I'll tell mommy you miss her." I told him. "Ok I love you daddy." He replied before I finished packing and brought Landon to my mom. "I think she would like the go kart idea, it's fun and racing as been in her life since before she was born." My mom said after she stopped me. "Yeah, hey Landon?" I asked him. "Yes daddy." He said. "Can I ask mommy if I can marry her?" I asked him. "Yes marry." He replied smiling. I gave them both a kiss then left.

John Hunter came to get me between practices and we went to the track. "Zoey looks like a zombie." He told me on our way. "I'll get her to nap, does she know about this?" I asked. "Not at all, thank you for this, I know you don't spend a lot of time with your mom and sister." JH said. "Your cousin is my family too." I told him. "You can take her back to my RV to have a nap if you want." He said. "Thanks." I replied. We got to his RV and I made my way to JH's garage. "Where is Zoey?" I asked one of the crew members. "In the hauler." He answered. "Thank you." I said before going to the hauler. "Zoey?" I questioned. "Erik why are you here?" She asked getting up and hugging me. "You had a bad dream I came here to help my lady." I said wrapping my arms around her. "Where's Lan?" She asked. "My mom has him back in Michigan." I told her. "Ok when are we getting him back?" She asked. "Monday, after we go home." I replied. "Alright that sounds good." She said.

"Come on let's go back to John Hunter's RV." I said taking her hand. "Yeah let's go nap." She replied and off we went. Zoey changed then we cuddled in bed and she fell asleep. A while later JH came back and told me that he was back. "She's still asleep?" He asked. "Yeah she hasn't woken up she really needed this nap." I replied and he went to go do whatever. "Erik?" I heard Zoey whisper. "Yes Zo?" I asked. "You're still here." She whispered. "Of course I am, I'll always be here." I whispered.

*Zoey's P.O.V.*

"Will you leave us?" I asked him, I just woke up from a much needed nap thanks to Erik coming and surprising me. "Never, my children will never think I never cared about them or their wonderful beautiful mother." He told me. "Awe Erik." I said most likely blushing. "Well you are beautiful and wonderful, and you raised such a handsome and polite as he could be almost two year old." He replied as I turned so I was facing him. "This is nice and peaceful." I said putting my head on Erik's chest. "Yeah it's nice to be away from our kid sometimes but I really do miss him." He replied. "You know we have a lot of things to do before the babies get here." I told him. "Let's make a list of everything we need for the twins, then we will have everything done." He replied. "Yeah that's a good idea." I said kissing him.

We all went out to eat that night and my family got to know Erik better. "Hey JH I was wondering could we drive the truck home and then you can fly to the next race?" I asked John Hunter. "Yeah we can do that, just be careful with the truck." He said. "Thank you, and we will be very careful with this thing." I replied smiling. "When do you get Landon back from his grandma?" JH asked. "Monday, we were going to start a list of what we need for the twins, it will pretty much just be Landon's list but some of it would be doubled like the crib, toys food and stuff like that." I replies. "Yeah good idea." He replied. "I'm still scared about twins, one baby is fine but two I don't know." I put out there. "You'll have me, we can drive or find other means of travel." Erik replied. "Just worry about the pregnancy right now Zoe." JH said he was right just focus on the twins for now.

The next day we watched the trucks qualify and then later race, JH was doing good until the engine blew. JH was not happy so we called Landon and talked to him for a while until we went back to the RV and all hung out together until we fell asleep. The next day I drove Erik and I home and we just talked about anything and everything we could think of. After I dropped off Erik at the apartment I drove to Joe's house and parked the truck and then Erik took us home. "We have a day to ourselves tomorrow then Landon comes back." I said as we were sitting on the couch. "Yeah, what should we do?" Erik asked. "I have school work to do but if you want we can go on a date for dinner." I told him. "Ok yeah let's do that." He replied before kissing my cheek. The next day I did school work and Erik watched TV and at some point JH came by to get his truck keys.

"Come on babe are you ready?" Erik asked. "Yes now I am." I replied before shaking my head at my guy. "Took you long enough but I don't care as long as you look like this after." He said before kissing me. "I'm hungry." I said ruining the mood then walking out the door. We went to dinner then came home and spent time together.
