Sighing Cole begins. "Dani I will give you your explanation but you have to promise to hear me out. I understand how you're feeling right now." I cut him off. Feeling right now. Cole you saved me, made me feel wanted, lead me on. I fell in love with you; I gave myself to you! You were going to bring my voice back. Then what, you turn into a wolf? Cole's eyes soften. "You fell in love with me?" I stared at him confused. "Dani I've been waiting for you to say that since the minute I saw you in the diner." "I mean I knew you loved me. I loved you too that's why we, uh, well you know but to hear you say it. I've been waiting so long Dani, baby," I hold up my hand cutting him off. Cole I want an explanation, I said nothing about going back to you or still loving you. Hurt flashes across his face, but he is quick to mask it, allowing his face to morph into the emotionless one most know him to have.

"As you know I am a werewolf. But Dani, I want to say now before I go on, that the promise I made to you, about never hurting you. I was sincere, my body is to protect you, never hurt you. The werewolf gene is passed down through parents, not that stupid Hollywood shit. The whole thing about the full moon is a myth. First off, we live in packs. My pack is called the Blood Moon pack. We all live together in what we call the packhouse. That is why my home seems so big. We have 9 floors, the main floor, two floors for families, one for warriors, Gamma/Gamma's family, Beta's family, Beta, Alpha's family, and Alpha. You were on the floor dedicated to the Alpha's family because I am the Alpha. Jorden is my Beta. What this means is I am in charge and Jorden is my second in command. These positions have always been in our families and have been passed down to the eldest sons throughout the generations."

We sit in silence for a while letting the information sink in. Everything he is telling me adds up with the information I have researched. Do you kill humans? I ask, thinking about Heath. "To be honest Dani." Cole begins. "Yes. But only if they are a threat to us." I finch at his words. So I was never hallucinating that day. Wolves did kill him. Are there other packs? "Yes." Cole he pauses before speaking again. "There is typically one pack or so per state. There are roughly 30 in the US, but there are others in other countries. Like, my family here in France. My pack however, we are the only ones in Montana."

Cole what are mates? And why am I yours. Cole tenses. "Please don't leave me Dani, please listen to me." His eyes pleading with me to stay and listen. I give Cole one nod and he continues.

"Dani, us wolves, we have different values than humans. All of those values center on our mate. Our mate is our other half the person who you are meant to spend the rest of our lives with. Every wolf typically has a mate. You know who your mate is because once you meet him/her you will want to be around them 24/7. Touching them will make tingles erupt in your body. But most importantly, you will feel safe around your mate. Your mate is the one person you can always count on. They will be there for you when no one else is, make you happy how no one else can, and pleasure you how only they know how." Cole and I both blush when he says the last part.

"They say the pain of losing a mate is the most horrible thing a wolf can go through. And damn, were they right. Dani you weren't by my side for 4 months. I was a shadow of a man. I wasn't eating, sleeping, bathing. If it wasn't for Nona I probably would have killed myself. Only you can have that effect on me Dani. Only you can bring me, big bad Alpha, crumbling to his knees."

I take a deep breath at Cole's words. Me being gone had this much of an effect on him? I never would have guessed. "So Dani that is why I'm here. To win you back. It might take a while, and I understand that, but life without you isn't worth living. So you know damn well I will fight my hardest to win you back. I will not give up." I smile. Cole is the only person who hasn't given up on me.

I won't commit to anything, and I know it will take time. But I am willing to give us a try. The brightest smile appears on Cole's face. BUT, we need to stay in France. For now I am willing to trust you and ONLY you. Please promise me, until I trust you, no other wolves.

Cole is quick to agree. "Anything for you Dani, anything." I smile and reach for his hand, now tell me more about these mate values. Cole just grins along with me. "Well sorry to get your hopes up, but us werewolves don't believe in weddings. We don't need wives, we have our mates. Same title same thing. All of us as kids are taught your mate is the only one for you and you will spend the rest of your life with them. So of course we don't sleep around. That doesn't mean we don't have some who do. But it is frowned upon. Most of us wait for our mates and are virgins until we meet them." Cole's cheeks redden and he rubs the back of his neck nervously. "Dani that night, I took your virginity but you took mine as well." Blushing I can't help but smile in my mind.

"We werewolves aren't very judgmental about teenage pregnancies because in the wolf community most mated couples have their first child by age 21 or 22. In fact, most couples will end up having on average five or six since us wolves don't believe in birth control."

I choke on the water I've been drinking. Cole rubs my back from across the table. "Do you not want kids Dani?" He asks nervously. No I do Cole, I clarify. Just not now of course. You just talk about these things like they are everyday conversations. Cole chuckles. "Trust me babe in my world they are." "I'm glad you're not against pups, err, kids, because I want 11." I feel my eyes bulge out of my head on that confession.

Cole I don't want to have the kids talk now, we need to strengthen our relationship first. I also need to reach a better place mentally first. Cole looks at me puzzled but doesn't push me for information. I can tell he is conflicted on what to say, but settles for the words I want to hear. "Dani, whatever you are going through, I will support you and be there for you." I nod and squeeze his hand.

Now let's talk about the elephant in the room. How did you find me? I know you didn't just come here for a visit with your cousin.
