Today is the day; the day when I will be introduced to the pack. Nona explained that tonight at the ceremony I will take Cole's last name and officially become his Luna. Become the woman who will rule the pack beside him, be the mother of his children, and most importantly, hold his heart forever in my hands. Nona also explained that I won't be allowed to see him until the moment I walk out to join him by his side during the ceremony. Honestly, I'm not sure if I am ok with this part, but Nona said it is a tradition and that I don't have much of a choice. "Tradition my ass." I mumble under my breath.

Jorden chuckles, bringing me out of my thoughts. I look up at him, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion from his sudden laughter. "What?" I question. "Tradition my ass." He mocks. Blushing, I lower my eyes. "Did I say that out loud?" Jorden laughs harder at my question.

"Are you ready to officially become Luna tonight?" He asks instead of pushing the matter further. I try to hide my grimace while I answer his question, "I feel like something bad is going to happen." I whisper after a moment to collect my thoughts.

Jorden swivels around in his chair, turning to face me. We just stare at each other for a while before he finally speaks; well more like mumbles but I still catch it. "I feel it too." His words cause my breath to quicken and my heart to speed up. Something is wrong. Something is going to go wrong! Jorden puts his hand on my shoulder in attempt to sooth my oncoming panic, except, I only flinch away from him. "Dani, everything is ok." He tries once again to soothe me. After a couple more seconds of my growing panic, he yells, "COLE!" Not even a minute later we can hear the pounding of his steps rushing towards us.

Cole is beside me in record time. "Dani?" he acquires but I am too far gone to answer. Cole just picks me up and sets me on his lap, my ear on his chest, listening to his heart beat. "Breathe, just like me, follow my heartbeat." We sit like that until my breathing finally calms down. "Good job baby, I'm proud of you." He kisses my forehead before allowing me to just stay here, sitting on the lap of the man I love; allowing me to feel completely at ease with my new life, with Cole.

The moment is ruined when Nona comes into the room. At the sight of us, she shrieks louder than I thought humanly possible. "Get up!" She scolds pulling me up off his lap and away from Cole. "You cannot see him until tonight!" "And you mister," she turns to glare at her grandson. "You keep your hands to yourself and stay away from Dani!" Cole looks at me, waiting for my approval; which, I don't give. Cole stands up and pulls me back into his arms, openly defying the past Luna.

"I am Alpha now Nona and I choose to have Dani by my side today." I am glad Cole isn't planning on leaving me again, but I don't want to hurt Nona's feelings. The poor old woman doesn't do anything but stand there shell-shocked. Fortunately, she did not have to answer, because Grandad, who we never knew was standing there, did.

"When a boy can stand up to a woman he respects, that's when you know he's a man. We raised you well son, I am proud." Cole tries to hide his smile as we watch Grandad lead his mate out of the room.

Cole and I turn when we hear slow clapping. "You go man!" Jorden praises. Cole rolls his eyes. "Want pizza?" Jorden asks. "They just opened a new parlor, I say we go." Cole frowns, "In our territory? I never granted permission for that." Jorden rolls his eyes, "It is human run, just outside of the territory on the north western side." I turn to Cole at the same time he looks at me. "Do you want to go Dani?" I nod resulting in Cole smiling before addressing his friend. "Ok, we're in Fly." Jorden smiles before he chuckles, "You're so whipped man." Cole frowns but doesn't say anything. I don't know what that expression means. But I do know that I shouldn't ask.

Just as we were about to head out the door we were stopped by a man I recognize. The one who told Cole the Hunters were here on the night of the attack. "Alec." Cole greets stopping the man from walking away. "Hey we were just going to get some pizza, want to join?" Jorden asks. Alec nods. "Yeah, sounds fun. Luna." He bows his head acknowledging my presence. I smile at him in response.

"Alec is our Gamma," Cole explains, "That means he is Blood Moon's third in command." Alec nods confirming his title. "He's also our friend." Jorden jumps in. "Goddess Cole, you get a mate and you forget about the people you've known since diapers." Cole blushes causing a smile to erupt on my face. "Don't worry Dani," Jorden winks, "I will tell you all the stories over pizza." "Looking forward to it." I grin and follow Cole out towards the car.

I couldn't help but notice things were slightly off in the car ride. Things weren't as smooth as Jorden made them seem. This makes me nervous. I look towards Cole who is driving. Jorden is sitting shotgun with me and Alec in the back. I send Alec a sideways glance. He is gazing out the window, lost in thought. I look towards Jorden who is engaged in a friendly argument with Cole over his technique on driving. Jorden claims he is going too slowly, but I'm pretty sure he is already going way over the speed limit.

I roll down my window trying to put my nerves at rest. "Cole." I whisper. His attention is immediately on me. "What's wrong Dani?" His eyebrows furrow in confusion. I glance again at each one of the boys. "Are we almost there?" Jorden laughs. "We legit just pulled into the parking lot Shorty."

Cole pulls me aside once everyone is out of the car. "What's wrong?" He whispers, fanning his hot breath on my neck. I shiver. "Alec makes me feel uneasy." Cole stiffens, "Alec is a good man with loyal intentions. He is one of my top fighters and I trust him for his skill. But he is not my friend anymore. He is not someone I look to for advice nor would I let him get to close with you, like I would Jorden. Jorden is my best friend and always has been, we have no secrets. Alec's trust is on a business level now, no longer a personal one. Jorden's my brother, I love him. Alec has a duty to fight for me. Jorden does it out of a bond we share." I like that he speaks so highly of Jorden. "Why is he here then?" I ask. Cole frowns, "I was wondering the same thing Dani. It has been a good amount of time since we've been a trio."

"What happened?" I question. Cole looks off into the distance for a second collecting his thoughts. "What Jorden said about us being friends since diapers is true. We were a trio then. But then when we were about 12 and Alec 13 he distanced himself from us. When we hit our adult years there was a... few incidents involving Alec and his family. I don't want you to be scared of him, because Alec is loyal to me and the pack, but I have questioned his actions since then." "That doesn't answer my question." I say after some time but Cole just moves on.

"Alec will protect your life, but not your heart, Dani. Don't get the two mixed up." Cole kisses my forehead and we walk inside the parlor hand in hand. I can't help but think that advice would help me later on. Alec protects me because he has too, Jorden protects me because he wants to.

Question of the day: who so you like better Dani or Cole?

Sorry this is short.
