It was hard to breathe... I couldn't feel the pain in my leg anymore. I couldn't even make sure if I was in one piece. Where was I? What was I doing? I couldn't remember... The only feeling I has right now was a hole like I was missing something or someone. Who?
I missed my family... Mom... Angela. I wanted to see you again. But, they weren't the one I was looking for. Sebastian? The expression he gave me when he saw me earlier, it was pure horror. Was it because he didn't want to see someone like me anymore or because of the thing chasing after me?
There was someone else with me, but I couldn't remember. It was as if he simply disappeared. But I needed him, why did he leave me too? Even though he promised me or were his words empty? Now that he used me, he just discarded me and left me behind?
"Open your eyes! Keith, please... Don't left us behind! What will I tell your mother and sister? What about Ryan?! About me??" pleaded someone. His voice was faint, almost like a whisper, a small voice coming from the other side.
I tried to open my voice, to follow the voice and not fall into the darkness. However, it seemed like my eyes were glued together. I struggled to make something work and a sounding growl was emanated.
"Keith! Stay with me okay?! I'll take you to the closest village and contact my family to ask for some help! At all cost, fight the poison, okay? Remember, how devastated your mother, Angela and I would be if you were to go. And Ryan... Think about Ryan, he's your mate after all!" the voice seemed to be a bit louder, but also there was some relief?
And Ryan... My mate? Thinking about his name made me feel more relaxed and warm. Yes, my mate where was he? Was he here too? I wanted to see him, I wanted to smell him, to feel him, but no matter what, I couldn't make my eyes to obey. I tried to call his name, but it came out as a whimper.
"Just a bit more, I already called for help. We should meet up at a small city two hours from here. Don't worry, we are already half-way." Sebastian explained panting.
"Ryan..." I managed to say almost like something weaker than a whisper.
"... H-he's here, don't worry..." he said weakly almost as if he was in pain. Why?
My body felt warmer and warmer over the minutes. Even with the cold wind blowing on my face didn't help. I was burning, but at the same time, I was freezing. Why? Why was I feeling this weird? It was as if my body, my senses were all messed up, I couldn't feel anything right.
"H-He's here!!" shouted my friend as panted and handing me to someone else before a loud thud could be heard.
"Take care of Sebastian! Keep him hydrated and put him to sleep, he pushed his body too far!" ordered a woman as I felt being carried somewhere. "Put him on the bed." continued the woman, before cold hands started to touch me. "He was attacked by a Shadow Howler and his leg has been badly injured. He also lost a lot of blood. Quickly make the antidote and prepare a transfusion! In the meantime, I'll heal his wounds, hurry the boy's life is counted!" she shouted some more orders. "You can rest now. Don't worry, we will take care of you, Keith. You can relax now." she cooed more gently.
"R-Ryan... W-where?" I tried to ask as a whimper as a huge pain hit my leg.
"It's okay, rest now. Let us take your worries away..." I heard the woman's voice again before falling deeply into sleep.
••••
I was woken up by annoying noises. This time, when I tried to open my eyes, I succeeded. My body still didn't want to move, but it was a start. I looked around, still laying on the bed and saw Sebastian sleeping in a sitting position on a chair not too far from me. I searched for Ryan, but... He was nowhere to be seen... So, he did really leave me?
Tears started to freely fall even thought I didn't want it to. Just thinking about it made my heart hurt. If he was to leave me, why would he mark me? Why would he promise me something he won't hold? I guessed my sobbing was noisy since Sebastian started to wake up. At first, he looked confused, but after he yawned and stretched his arms and legs, I could see all the worry coming back in his eyes. At the same time, I tried to hide my tears by looking at the other side, but I was too late, he already saw it.
"Does it hurt? Is that why you're crying? Or is it because of Ryan?" he asked even though I knew he already knew the answer.
"Where's Ryan?" I asked my voice all hoarse.
"Don't be sad or mad, he was taken away. He had no choice or he may have been killed since he's an Ignis member. At this moment, he's at the King's place. I already explained everything to the Prince and he's willing to talk about it with us. As soon as you can walk, we will head back to our home." he explained making me feel relieved in a way since Ryan didn't leave me by choice.
"H-he's okay?"
"Yeah, no harm has been done to him. It seems like, he's someone important in his Kingdom. By the way, are you hungry? You have been asleep for almost two days..." he asked as my stomach rumbled in answer and I blushed. "Okay, I'll be back with some food." I heard him laugh as he stood up and walked out of the room.
I looked out by the window and looked at the place we were. I also remember Sebastian saying that we were in a city and asked some help from our home. I guess... I wasn't really far from Ryan, but still too far from me since I couldn't see him anymore. I was wondering if Ryan was thinking about me too. Was he worried about me? Without knowing, I touched the spot where my mating mark was under my shirt.
I wanted to see you soon Ryan...
