Keith POV
(Yup, we are back to Keith)
It was like I was lost in a very dark and dense forest. No matter how high I flew, I couldn't fly past through the leaves. I couldn't reach the sky, my freedom. I was stuck down there. I didn't like it. Everything felt so cold. I was missing something, something so important.
What was it?
A fog. Avery thick fog was clouding my mind. I couldn't think straight. I started running. Since I couldn't get out of here by flying, I'll run. I'll run out of here. I wanted to see the bright blue sky and the fluffy white clouds. I ran through the trees as I dodged the branches and jumped through the roots. But, it didn't seems right. Why was it so easy to run around? I slowly stopped to gain my breath back. It looked like a was back to my starting point.
This was so confusing!
I spun around and ran around in another direction. This forest couldn't be that big! I saw the map, there was none of this size in our Kingdom. He told me, he even showed me. He? Who was he? I abruptly stopped. Who was he? It seemed like a part of me was missing by forgetting him.
"Please wake up soon," said a voice making me turn around, but saw no one.
"Hello? Is anyone here?" I shouted hoping he or she will answer me, but nothing. Did I imagine it?
I stayed still hoping I'll hear something. Nothing, I couldn't even hear the chirping of the birds. This forest seemed dead. I aimlessly walked around. What was happening? How did I even got here? Did he leave me?
"I'll miss you," I heard the same voice again.
Now that I listened to it more closely, it seemed so far away, like on the other side of the fog. The man's voice was outside of the forest. A place I couldn't reach. But, he sounded so sad. Was that man leaving his mate?
Mate?
My chest tingled. I looked down and saw something glowing through my clothes. What was that? I took my shirt off and gasped. Impossible. I was mated?! Why was my mating mark glowing? But more importantly, why couldn't I remember his face or name? It wasn't something I can easily forget, so why?
"Why can't I remember?!" I shouted making me voice resonate. "I want to see him," I sobbed as I felt to my knees. It was faint, but I could hear it. "Water?"
I slowly sat up and walked toward the sound of water. I didn't know how long I walked, but when I looked up, I saw the waterfall. I couldn't believe my eyes. It looked so magical with the sun rays illuminating it. I looked down and saw the shiny blue water at my feet. I kneeled and put my hand in the water before lifting it up. Small drops went through my fingers and other slid on my arm. It felt so warm.
I took off my clothes and walked into the water. My fingertips gently touched the water surface. I only stopped walking when half of my body was underwater. I moved my wings around liking how it felt. Both the water and the sun rays were so warm and reassuring. It felt so familiar, like a blanket of warmth and love.
"I'll have to break our promise again. I really failed as a mate," the voice resounded through this sanctuary making the ground tremble and the light dim.
What was happening? I looked around and everything that was so bright and lively became duller and sad. The blanket of warmth slowly disappeared only to be replaced by the cold water and chilling wind.
I understood now. This place, that voice was indeed my sanctuary and the owner of it was... I touched my glowing mark, "Ryan."
Suddenly, the fog that was blocking my mind was lifted. At the same time, my eyes opened and I saw the familiar ceiling. Ah, I was in our room. I felt something move next to me, so I slowly turned my head and saw my beautiful mate. He was here, with me. But, he was sad, so sad because of me. He thought I was leaving him behind. That wasn't true, I was the one who should be scared of him leaving me behind.
"That's... Not... True..." his head snapped up and I saw my mate's metallic grey eyes. Even if his eyes were red from crying too much, they were still so beautiful. "Don't... cry..." I cringed at my voice.
He gently took my hand in his. "You can't even imagine how worried I was," he let out a sob as he silently cried into my hand. It broke my heart. My mate who was usually so strong and confident broke under my eyes and it was all my fault. "What if I lost you that day? What would I have done?"
I wanted to comfort him, to say that I wasn't going anywhere, but as long as I was in this state, no matter what I'll say will hold no point. So, I pulled my hand out of his grip to put it on his cheek. He didn't take care of himself. With the small beard growing on his face, it was obvious that he didn't shave for days. Still, I caressed his cheek. He even leaned into my touch. I missed you so much.
"I'll never leave you alone. You are stuck with me for good," I said as confidently as possible before closing my eyes. Damn, I was so tired and my body hurt so much. Those bastards didn't miss me.
He let out a relieved chuckle. I could feel him watch me, but I paid it no mind. I liked it.
"Rest, I'm going to get Zack to check on you, okay?" he suddenly said making me nod.
I heard the door close behind him and I was so glad that he didn't saw me wince. I needed to be strong for him since he was the King. I didn't like the idea, but I had to share him with the townspeople. They needed my mate as I did.
We all needed him. I wouldn't know what to do without him.
"I'll not lose you to the Prince."
