Chapter Fourteen
“Ahem!” Darius and I looked over his bike to see Mark glaring at us three car spots over. “I see you’re oh so crushed still!” His voice becoming sarcastic and harsh. His glare never broke from his eyes.Darius moved me behind him to shield me. “Please leave. You have no reason to come near Patience anymore.”
“I demand to see what you look like now Patience, so get your dog to back down.”
“No.” I grabbed my helmet from Darius’ hand and clipped it under my chin. “You have no right to demand anything.” Darius and I slipped onto his bike almost in unison, and he sped off quiet enthusiastically. He wanted to get me away from Mark as much as I wanted to be away.
As Darius drove, I shifted closer to him. The full length of my chest hugged comfortably to his back. Any tightness he had seemed to have had melted away at my hug. He even reached slightly behind him and petted my thigh where it rested against his. He seemed much, much more relaxed again with my movements. Its like I know when he needs help calming down and what to do to become relaxed.
I moved away from Darius’ back when he stopped the bike and cut it off. I looked up and saw that we were stopped on the side of the road. “Why did we stop?” I leaned back as Darius took his helmet off.
He looked at me over his shoulder. “Well... Since I am now on vacation, I thought I would treat us.” He shifted his gaze to a building next to us and jerked his chin to the store next to us. I laughed when I saw where he has taken me and I hugged him in thanks.
He tapped my arms which I retracted reluctantly and Darius dismounted his bike before he turned and lifted me again easily off his bike. “You love lifting me off your bike, don’t you?”
“You’re just so light and it is easier for me to do it than risk someone accidentally looking up your skirt.”
“Oh, so you’re helping me stay modest. How chivalrous of you.”
“Yeah yeah. I’ve gone soft.” He took my hand and lead me to my favorite desert shop ever! L’Italian Treats. This shop has more than italian treats like the name says. It has treats and deserts from everywhere. Bonbons from france. Fried ice cream. Real creamy ice cream made here in the store. Real italian gelato made here too. Their deserts and treats were affordable and the best in the city.
When you enter the store, its as if you have just stepped into an italian family shop. You are greeted like you are family with smiles and hellos from everywhere. Then when you are giving your order, they ask how you are. Such warm greetings and very warm people. If you don’t know what you want, they ask you if you have any particular craving then suggest something for you. They were usually right about what you should try. They are that awesome!
“Have you been here before?” Darius whispered in my ear while he held me with his arms wrapped around me as we waited in line to order. We really looked like a couple though I was a bit hot in the cloak and with all these people around us. For early in the day, this place was certainly packed.
“It's my favorite place to come and treat myself. You?”
He chuckled and kissed my cheek. “Mine as well.” He rested his chin on my shoulder. “You know we have a ton of things in common, right?”
“Coffee with one scoop of sugar. I’m thinking we both love your bike.” He chuckled at me. “This place.” I tapped my chin. “What else?”
His lips brushed my ear. “We’re both stubborn and madly in love with each other. For me it started when I first saw you.”
I swallowed and blushed. “Me too.” I breathed out too embarrassed to admit it fully. The line moved forward and now we only had one couple ahead of us now.
