Chapter Sixteen
“Knock knock!” Came a voice and rasps on the sliding glass door to Darius’ balcony. I turned to see Angel Kat and Parro grinning at Darius and I. Darius had me on the ground and was tickling me. One of his legs was pinning my thighs down. One of his arms held both mine to the top of my chest. His other hand on my abdomen tickling me with no mercy.
It took me several breathes to remember why they were here. When the memory came back, my whole body relaxed in submission to my forgetful brain. “I’m sorry. I totally forgot about that.”
“Is this about her dream last night?” Darius released me and helped me up.
“Yes. I wanted Parro to basically dream with her and see if the man returns to communicate with her. It seems that a creation has the ability to enter another’s dream with or without their permission.”
“That’s why I felt violated. I didn’t want him there.” I shuddered a bit at the memory. I looked to Angel and Parro. “Are you both staying all night?”
Angel smiled at me. “No. I was just bringing Parro down here.” She glanced behind me. “Well. I should get back and help Darien put Prema to sleep.” She came over and hugged me. She turned and hugged Darius and pulled back with an eyebrow raised. He just chuckled and she left out the balcony.
For the first time ever, I felt a longing to follow her out and spread my wings wide and let the wind carry me. I felt a hand on my shoulder and looked next to me. Parro had a knowing look on his face as if he knew my thoughts without touching me. Well... he does have wings too.
“Soon you’ll fly. Give yourself time.” Then his lips smirked up as I know he just heard me say that I felt right with myself as I am. “Guess we don’t have to give you that much time.” He looked at Darius. “You’ve helped her more than you’ll ever know. I’m glad you too didn’t waste too much precious time denying your feelings.”
“So that's why you tapped my shoulder. It was strange that you’ve been avoiding contact and then you touched me before you left.”
Parro shrugged. “Had to see if I gave her good advice.” Parro smiled as his hand dropped from my shoulder. “Glad to see it was the best advice.”
“It was ringing in my head the entire trip back to the apartment.”
“So Parro? Want a slice of pizza since you’re staying with us the night?”
Parro turned around. “Oh! I would love a slice.” In the matter of a second, Parro looked sixteen when he saw the pizza sitting on the bar overlooking the kitchen. The Parro I have known was a smart, serious guy who gets a bit giddy over pizza.
“So where’s Angelic? Surprised you’re here without her.” Darius had pulled me over to the couch while Parro sat at the bar eating a slice of mushroom, sausage, and onion pizza. My pizza.
Darius and I found that our taste in pizza was what was different between us. He hates mushroom and onion. I love them beyond anything. He loved black olives and pepperoni. They just taste plain nasty to me. We had ordered two large pizzas as a result. Save the rest for tomorrow and as long as we want the pizzas.
Parro swallowed his bite and looked over. “She’s out patrolling with Sky.” He sighed. “And she is upset at me right now. She thinks I’m cheating as I disappear on her, but I’ve only been going to see Darien at his work. He’s helping me.”
“Finally dude!” Darius threw his head back and laughed. “I thought you had gotten the nerve last year to do it!”
Parro was chuckling. “I tried going to find it by myself, but things kept getting in the way. I told Darien and he’s been helping me. Even paying for it as a gift to us both.” He took another bite and swallowed before turning to me. “You’re curious.” A statement not a question. I nodded and he looked at Darius. “You’re closer.”
