Chapter Seventeen

~~Mansion in the middle of nowhere~~

I shot up gasping for air. What the hell was that? She started to convulse and I couldn’t do anything but watch in horror. Maybe she was telling the truth. Maybe she was where she wanted to be. Maybe my wanting to stay when she wanted me to go hurt her.

What was that that forced me away? It wasn’t her, but something tied to her. Something outside but connected to her. Could it be someone? It didn’t feel like a creation power, but something very powerful. Something that is naturally that powerful.

I swung my legs to the side of the chaise lounge chair and cradled my head in my hands. Did I just make her hate me even more? I tried to be gentle and comment on her dream which was amazing. Though haven’t I seen something like that before? Maybe that will help us find her, but should we?

“Did you find her again?” I looked up at Pana’s voice and saw Father with her.

I sighed. “Yes but it didn’t go all too well.” I sleeked my hand through my hair. I looked up at Father. “I think we should let her be. She seems upset that we might take her away from where she is. She doesn’t think of us as her family.”

Father frowned at me. “What if she is just confused and they told her that to keep her there? We should try and retrieve your lost sister as soon as we can. For her as much as for us.” He walked over and sat down in a leather winged back chair near the fire place that was looked toward me. “Now tell me what she has become. What kind of creation is she?”

I closed my eyes and smiled. “She is not just one but two. Beautiful long black hair that flows to the middle of her back. When the light reflected of it, I saw purple with a silver case. Large, graceful wings the same color of her hair sprouted from her back. Her skin is light like porcelain. She also has a tail the color of her skin but with the tip black as if dipped into a paint bucket. She looks like a darkened angel. Her eyes are purple with faint wisps of midnight blue.” I opened my eyes and my smile faded from my face. “Father? What’s the matter?”

He looked both astonished and wary. “She’s a goddess class. There is only a hand full created and she is my first.”

“Goddess class? What is that?” Pana asked as she sat down next to me.

Father leaned back fully in his seat and looked tired. “They are the rarest creation imaginable. Their gifts tend to be very strong. Angel Kat happens to be a goddess class herself. A weather master to be precise. There are three others that I know of. All created by the corporation.”

“The one that wanted to take over the world. I remember you talking about them from time to time. They stole your formula for creations and created their own little army till they tried to capture their wayward creation, Angel Kat. Big mistake on their part.”

“Yes. The corporation’s plans were never mine so they stole my formula. Those rotten bastards.”

Pana looked at me with her head tilted. “Did you try to convince her to come?”

“I tried but she wouldn’t listen.”

“Why aren’t you still there talking to her?”

I sighed. “I learned something tonight. Well, two things. One. I can’t just hold on to an unwilling person. Two. Somehow I was forced away. Not by a creation either.”

“What happened when you tried to keep contact?”

“It was horrible to watch. It was like her body convulsed and she screamed out in pain. I hadn’t held on to her that long last night so I think it was her rejecting me being in her dream.” I shook my head and slumped my shoulders. “I never want to hurt anyone and she was being hurt because of me.”

“You didn’t know. Now you know the limit of staying with someone you need to convince. This was your first assignment of this sort. There are many lessons to learn.” Pana was right of course. So many lessons. How to talk to her for one. I keep pushing her away when I just want her here with her real family.

“Wonder how you were force away.” Father murmured to himself with his hand under his chin. “There is no way she found her match so soon. Her soulmate.”

I want to stay with whom I am with. To stay where my heart is. Could she have been referring to her soulmate if she has found him? Or just a boyfriend that she feels strongly toward? If he is her soulmate, then that would explain me being forced away.

“There was someone else there. I could feel a presence. Another creation.”

“Do you know who? Maybe that will help us find her.” Father leaned forward curious. He wasn’t going to let this go. Maybe because she is a goddess class. He just seems too delighted with the thought to have his first goddess class creation by his side. It looks like he will try to get her here no matter what I say.

I shook my head looking down at my hands. “Just a presence. Like they were an observer to our conversation. I couldn’t tell who it was. Maybe they were a telepath. One concentrating on her while she slept.”

“Do you think she could be persuaded to come to us?”

I shook my head. “She said that she wanted to stay where she is. That she had her own family and it wasn’t with me.” I closed my eyes. “I think I shouldn’t contact her again for a while. She probably hates me right now or is total frightened of me.”

Pana pulled me to her and embraced me. “It’ll be alright, you’ll see.”

Father rose from his seat. “Give her time and just talk to her in her dreams. Let her warm up to you. We may have to go slow with her. Earn her trust and find out where she is. She’s not where she used to live. I called the number I have for her, and a man answered. He was pissed hearing her name for some reason. He also said that she can rot in hell for all he cared, her and her reporter friend. A very unfriendly fellow.”

“Maybe that is the key to finding her. If she knows a reporter, there must be a way to find out who that could be and find her.” Pana suggested but I felt like she was betraying our wayward sister. She doesn’t want to be found. Why can’t they accept her wishes and leave her alone?

“I’ll have Dante search the newspapers for anyone of interest.” Father turned back to us. “Give her two nights, then make contact again. Go slow this time.” He turned and left the study.

I fell back against the chaise lounger covered my eyes with my forearm. “Are we doing the right thing with our sister?”

“Why are you doubting? Did she say something to you?” Pana placed a hand on my cheek. “Please stop worrying. She will feel better when she gets to know us. She’ll see us as her family in time.”

I sighed and pulled her to lay on top of me. “I’m worried we’re about to do the wrong thing this time.” I kissed her forehead and she snuggled up to my chest. “It’s getting late. We should go get some sleep ourselves.

“Alright.” She breathed against my chest and we both rose leaving the study. I just have a bad feeling about Father’s intentions with this sister. Something was not right by the way he insisted on bringing her here as soon as possible. I may just be nervous after seeing her in pain, but something is nagging me.
