Tao X Depressed!Reader

I can't take this anymore! This has been going on for weeks and because of what? I accidentally spilled some juice on one of the popular kids. It was an accident! But he turned out to be the popular boyfriend of one of the popular girls and she has since then made it her life's mission to make my existence miserable. The constant bullying is starting to get to me. I am constantly tired, in a bad mood and my health has also been worse lately. My mom took me to a therapist and now I am taking some sort of antidepressants. Life sucks. It is even worse that I might have a tiny crush on the popular boy I spilled my juice on. Tao.

I knew him back in middle school, but I don't think he remembers me, I have changed a lot. Back then he would come to me for comfort or support and I had a big crush on him back then still. I left in my second year and only returned recently. We lost touch and I really regret it. I care about him, so I won't try so make him remember me and possibly ruin his reputation. He is happy, and I should be happy for him.
Although I am glad to see he has stayed the kind, sensitive boy I knew years ago.
Despite being popular, he is very kind, isn't even a bit snobby and does not pick on people like me.
He even tried to help me up, since I spilled my juice after falling, but his girlfriend quickly came up to us screeching about how I had dared to dirty his expensive shirt and so on and so forth. Honestly, I don't understand why he is going out with her, but maybe that is just the jealousy in me talking. After all, she may be a bitch, but she is quite pretty. (Even though about eighty percent of that beauty is probably makeup.) Though he doesn't seem like the type of guy that would care to much about beauty or popularity.

Right now I am walking through the halls of my school towards my locker. We have only one lesson left before the end of the day. Not to mention today is Friday, so I won't have to deal with this shit for two whole days! Yay me!

I open my locker and see a bunch of notes with hurtful words filling my locker, but I simply rummage through them to find my backpack and take my pills, but before I can do so someone slams the locker next to me. I turn around and see the person that has been making my life a living hell standing next to me and smirking.

"What are you? Some granny that needs to take her heart meds every few hours so that she doesn't die. Honestly, if that is the case, just give up on the pills, I mean, no one will miss you. So just do everyone a favor and-"
"-Enough!"
You turn your head and see Tao standing a few meters away from you. You have rarely ever seen him show any strong negative emotions, but at this moment he seems mad.
"This had gone too far! We are breaking up! I can't stand being in your presence any longer! I am warning you, leave (Name) alone from now on. If I find out that you were bullying her again, I will make sure you regret it!"

Tao turns towards you and grasps your wrist, pulling you along with him out of the building. He stops at the school gates.

"Wait here."

He returns in a few moments with your bags. He firmly grasps your hand and leads you in the direction of your home.
How does he remember where you live?
"T-Tao, why are you doing this? Why are you helping me?"
He silently keeps on leading you in the direction of your house until you reach your destination. Your parents are away on a business trip, so the lights in the house are turned off. He lets go of your hand and silently motions for you to open the door. You don't know why, but you comply. You enter the house and close the door, but before you can turn on the light switch, a strong pair of arm embraces you from behind. You feel tears soaking into your shirt.
"I am so sorry, (Name)."
"For what, Tao?"
"For not stopping them earlier. For not approaching you right away. To be honest, I never forgot you and when I saw you a few weeks ago I couldn't help but be overjoyed, but then she interrupted us. I saw that you were acting as if I was a stranger, so I thought you might have forgotten me. I was a bit heartbroken, so I tried to avoid you, but because of that I didn't realize what she was doing to you. All because of me....."
"Don't worry, Tao. You didn't know. I don't blame you. In fact, I am glad to know that you still remember me at least..."
"Remember you? Are you kidding me? I could never forget you. You were my best friend and crush and you always knew how to make me feel better. I remember I got into a fight with my parents and was really upset about it and you comforted me."
"Yeah, you ran away from home and showed up at my door in tears."
"I still remember how you were lying next to me on your bed, trying to calm me down."
"Yeah...."
"(Name)?"
"Yes."
"Can we cuddle?"
"W-What?"
"S-Sorry, I didn't mean th-"
"N-No, it is fine, I could use some comfort after what happened today...."
"Sure."

You decide not to turn on the lights, but simply stumble into your bedroom and make yourselves comfortable. All of the shutters are closed, so the house is completely dark, except for a few dimly lit spaces. You lie down on your back, with your head on your pillow and soon feel him lie down with his head on your chest and strong arms wrap firmly around your waist. Even though the boy lying on your chest, listening to your heartbeat is not your boyfriend or even anything close to one, you can't help but leave a few kisses on his head and run your fingers through his hair, earning you a satisfied hum in return.

"(Name)?"
"Yes?"
"Will you be mine?"

You stop the movement of your fingers for a moment and you feel him tense as he hides his face. But then you begin to once again play with his hair. You raise his bangs to leave a light kiss on his forehead.

"Yes."

He sighs contently, but then tenses once he remembers the pills he saw you about to take earlier.

"(Name), what were those pills for?"

You hesitate, but he takes your hand and intertwines your fingers, encouraging you to answer him.

"They are antidepressants."
"(Name)....."
"It's okay, Tao. Hopefully, soon I won't need them anymore. After all, I have you now. You won't let me feel down, right?"
"Of course, I will protect you, (Name)."

He lifts his head up to leave a few light kisses on your collarbone, neck and, finally, a chaste kiss on your lips. You can feel him smile into the kiss and quickly move away, resting his head once again on your chest. You both decide to get some rest. You fall asleep feeling protected and warm.
