Let's start with the first thing you see in a movie. The title. I am shocked that its called The Last Airbender. Bro. The whole movie is about the Avatar! Why the heck is it not in the title? The TV show's title is called Avatar: the Last Airbender. Why isn't the movie? Was M. Night Shyamalan afraid that the title would confuse people with the one about the blue people?
Ha, ha, ha. Believe me, no one would ever get those two mixed up. Ever.
Then, the movie starts. A bunch of words appear Star Wars style and a voice I assume is Katara reads them. The intro makes absolutely no sense! The intro from the TV show with the map and the pictures was much more interesting and actually made sense!
Seeing the original opening would have sparked a lot of nostalgia and familiarity for the fans of the show and while they do the whole "Water. Earth. Fire. Air." thing at the beginning, the bending movements ticked me off (More on that later).
Back to the words. I would be so confused if I had never seen the show before seeing the movie! Its completely ridiculous.
