A Bunch of Other Stuff that was Messed Up or Forgotten

This is a list of more forgotten and messed up things that don't need an entire chapter to explain. I'm putting them in number order to keep myself organized so they're not in order of importance or anything. Also, if I haven't mentioned something, I probably already said it in a previous chapter.

1) Haru- The movie depicted Haru as  an 8-year-old boy who is going to be arrested for throwing stones at soldiers. Oh come on! Really? Haru is supposed to be this teenager who is trying to hide his earthbending but he is found out. at he end of the episode he forms a small connection with Katara and sort of has feelings for, but I don't think she felt that way about him.

2) Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors- I think I saw some people in the movie slide down trees with ribbons but I don't know if they were supposed to be the Kyoshi Warriors. I believe meeting Suki was a very important part of the show. Sokka learns a valuable lesson about not underestimating girls (he is never sexist again is the show after meeting Suki) and she returns in seasons 2 and 3 to become a valuable member of Team Avatar.

3) Gran-Gran's explanation of the Spirit World- In the movie, Gran-Gran (who is called Grandmother for some reason *eye roll*) does a terrible explanation of the Spirit World to movie Katara and Sokka. For one thing, why would she know anything about the Spirit World? Se horribly explains it of something you can't touch and the spirits watch over them. Ummm, okay? I think I explained it better a few chapters ago.

4) The stupid montage- After "saving" the captures earthbenders from their prison of earth, the gang decides, "Hey, let's free all the villages we can find on out way to the North Pole!" And some ridiculous montage of bad airbending and fleeting Fire nation soldiers ensues. *face palm* Where is the logic in this? That is actually a very dangerous thing to do! They are putting themselves at risk! Did they consider that the Fire nation could follow the trail of destruction north and figure out where they are going? Also, it goes completely against airbender philosophy. The real Aang would never purposely seek out a fight. He always tries to avoid violence and only does it in self-defense.

5) The Waterbending scroll- In the movie, the "freed" earthbenders give Katara the waterbending scroll. ?????? Why on earth (*snort*) would a bunch of earthbenders have a waterbending scroll? Huh? Katara is actually supposed to steal it from pirates who eventually team up with Zuko to capture Aang but it fails. And then the same pirates are hired by Zhao to kill Zuko. See all the pieces connecting over several episodes? This is much more thought out than Shyamalan's idea.

6) The Blue Spirit- I was actually surprised that the movie remembered that Zuko-as-the-Blue-Spirit fought with duo swords. *Gasp!* did I actually say that the movie remembered something? Not for long.  And then the movie utterly fails with having him wear a horrible sasquatch wig to wear with the mask. Hello? Did Zuko wear a wig in the show? No? THEN DON'T USE IT! Then when Aang and the Blue Spirit are fighting the soldiers, there is too much of that slow-motion evade stuff. Once is enough for a cool effect, but they used it every five seconds! It really slowed down the already slow fight. Ugh.

7) First glimpse of Azula- After the battle of the North Pole, Ozai enlists the help of Azula to defeat Zuko and the Avatar. The movie makes the scene less ominous because the actress playing Azula is so not as scary as she is in the show. Yeah, Azula is supposed to be 14 (news flash) but she has to be threatening and deadly. The movie Azula does this "I do ,father," in response to his question id she understands the task. It didn't move me. In the show, all Azula had to do was give her creepy, psychopath smile and that did it for me. I was all like, "Oh, its about to go down!" Movie Azula did not deliver.

8) Teo and the Northern Air Temple- Who remembers the sweet, wheelchair-bound boy and his inventor father who make a home for themselves in the abandoned air temple? I do! I believe that it was an important episode because Aang realizes that you don't have to be an airbender to have the spirit of one and the modifications to the ancient temple are not a bad as he initially thinks. Also, the inventor dad (with Sokka's help) creates the airships that the Fire nation eventually steal and take control of the skies too. Uh, oh. Also the dad creates the subs that are used during the eclipse.

9) Jet- Jet is such an important character. The gang learns of his anti-hero, vigilante style and make him an enemy. Then he will return in season 2 brainwashed and that leads Team Avatar to discovering the conspiracy of Ba Sing Se. And he saves Aang and is then killed by Long Feng and dies under Lake Laogai. *sniff* Keep it together...oh who am I kidding?!? *Cries* I liked Jet. I didn't ship him with Katara or anything but he was kinda cool. He even met Zuko on the ship to Ba Sing Se. He tried to be a better person and move on from his past but he met a tragic end. *Tear*

10) Katara losing her necklace- This isn't terribly important but Zuko found the necklace and got the help of June, the bounty hunter, to track them down. Its nearly impossible to follow someone all over the world without some assistance and the necklace helped with that.

Well that's a list of all that should have been in the movie done right, but like all adaptations, there are some things you have to cut out. So here's my other list of episodes that could be cut out of a (hopeful) revival of Avatar. This is my opinion, of course.

1) "The King of Omashu"- Yeah, Aang meets King Bumi, his old friend from his past and we see the Cabbage Man for the first time. MY CABBAGES!!!! Sorry ;) But it doesn't really carry on the plot all that much with the 3 challenges and all. We will see Bumi again at the beginning of season 2 so Aang could first meet him then when they find that Omashu has been taken over by the Fire Nation.

2) "The Fortuneteller"- This is that one where they go to that village that solely relies on that fortuneteller. Again, it doesn't move the plot forward and we only learn of Aang's feelings for Katara and that's pretty much it. There is some funny stuff with Sokka the science guy interacting with the villagers but its not important.

3) "Bato of the Water Tribe"- They meet Bato, a friend of Katara and Sokka's dad, who had to be left behind to heal. He offers them a map to find their father but Aang hides it so his friends won't leave him. Yep, its the classic I-don't-want-to-lose-you thing and its not needed. We do see Bato again in season 2 when Sokka finds his dad so that is when we could first meet him.

4) "The Deserter"- Aang wants to learn firebending from Jeong Jeong, who left the Fire Nation because it was corrupt. Katara is against it because Aang is supposed to learn the elements in order. Water, Earth, and then Fire. Of course he doesn't listen and he burns her. True, this is an important moment because Aang vows to never firebend again and this problem comes back in season 3. We only need that one portion of the episode, not the whole thing.

5) "The Great Divide"- This requires no further explanation. ;)
