Chapter 16 - Complete Heart

Aria's P.O.V.

"You've really grown to like this kid." Klaus said. I played with Hannah.

"She's my niece. I love her." I smiled.

It had been three weeks since Elena woke up. And three weeks since Hannah was born. And three weeks since Damon left. Me and Klaus were taking care of Hannah and we really loved her. Elena was getting used to being a vampire, Ashlyn and Kol were helping her. Damon and Stefan were nowhere to be seen.

"Aria?"

"Yes, Klaus?"

"Would you ever want to have...a baby?" He asked. I knew this was a very sensitive thing to talk about but I knew it would come up eventualy.

"I would...but it's not possible." I said in a sad voice.

"How come it's possible for Damon and Elena, and not for us?"

"I don't know. Klaus, you know I love you, but what if something bad happens and--"

"Okay, sorry I brought it up." He said and left the room. Tears were steaming down my face. I wanted to have a child. But what if we can't do it or something bad happens like what happened with Robert? We'd be heartbroken.

I got interrupted with my thoughts by Elijah. I hadn't seen him in a long time.

"Elijah." I whiped my tears and put Hannah in her crib.

"Aria, how are you?" He asked.

"I'm fine." I tried to walk past him and in the bathroom but he grabbed my arm.

"Why are you crying?" He asked.

"Why should you care?"

"Because I care about you and I don't want you to get hurt."

"Well, too late. I'm already hurt." I pulled out my hand and locked myself in the bathroom. I heard him leave the room. I cried for a little while. Then I washed my face and fixed my makeup and went outside. There was a note on my bed.

I am sorry that I hurt you. You know I care about you so much. We need to talk. Please meet me tonight at midnight in the woods.

I teared up the note and threw it in the bin. Should I go? What if it's something important? My phone rang. I looked at the Caller ID and it was Ashlyn.

Ashlyn: Hey, Aria. I think Elena's ready. You should bring Hannah.

Aria: Are you sure?

Ashlyn: Yea, she's on the animal diet and we've trained her to resist.

Aria: Okay, I'll see you in half an hour. Bye.

Ashlyn: Bye!

I put on a pair of jeans and a hoodie. I took Hannah and left. I had to walk because I couldn't drive with Hannah. After twenty-five minutes of walking I finally arrived and knocked on the door. Ashlyn opened it.

"Hey! Elena, they're here!" She shouted. She was so happy.

"I'm coming!" She said as she ran down the stairs. "Oh my god, finally! I haven't seen you in a month!" She took Hannah in her arms. "Thank you for taking care of her, Aria." She gave me a thankful smile.

"It was my pleasure." I said. We talked for an hour and then I decided to leave. I wanted to give Elena and Hananh some time alone.

Elena's P.O.V.

I missed Hannah so much. I was so glad when I saw her. I took her in my arms and she smiled at me. She had black thick hair and amazing blue eyes.

"Ashlyn?" I asked.

"Yes?"

"Where's Damon?"

"I don't know, Elena. He'll come back." She said.

"How can you be so sure?" I asked.

"I don't know. But he'll come back." She replied. "I promise."

"Don't make promises you can't keep." I said. "Hey, I'll go upstairs. See you later." I got up and went to my room. I put Hannah in her crib and laid on my bed. I was thinking about Damon. Why would he leave me? Don't I mean anything to him?

"Elena." I got snapped from my thoughts when I heard him...

"Damon." I stood up. "Where were you? I was so worried."

"I'm sorry. I just needed some time." He said. He looked so sad and hurt.

"I understand." I said.

"I am so sorry." He got close to me and cupped my face with his cold hands.

"I forgive you." I said. He looked at my lips, I knew he wanted to kiss me. But I didn't even know him. I couldn't do it.

"Where's Hannah?" He asked.

"Here she is." I took Hannah from her crib and gave her to him.

"Oh, Hannah. I missed you so much. I am sorry." He said to her. "I promise, I will never ever leave you again. I promise." His eyes were filling with tears. "I'm so sorry." A tear slid down his cheek. I felt so sad, why was he like this? What has he survived?

I put my hand on his shoulder and hugged him, trying not to hurt Hannah.

"I love you." He whispered. Was that meant for me or for her? I wasn't ready to tell him yet. I knew him for two hours for god's sake!

"I wanna sleep, I'm so tired." I said.

"Okay." Damon said. I laid on my bed. Damon put Hannah in the crib. "I'll just leave." He said.

"Damon..." I said.

"Yes, Elena?" He turned around.

"Can you...stay?" I asked.

"Of course." He said and gave me a weak smile. He laid on the bed, next to me. I put my head on his chest and he put his chin on my head.

"Thank you." I whispered. Then I drifted to sleep...
