Chapter 24 ~ The Woods

"I grew up in a small cottage. Elijah said that he took me in as a baby and he raised me. He was the only person I interacted with for years. When I turned eleven, I started doing magic. I'm a witch. Elijah helped me practice but he also helped me control it. I'm grateful for having him teach me. So, since then I've been learning magic and I'm pretty good at it now. Elijah says that I'm going to be one of the most powerful witches on Earth. But I'm still not ready yet. He says that I have to complete my transition so I'll become even more powerful."

"Transition? Into what?"

"A vampire. When I turn 18 I'll become a half witch, half vampire. And then I'll be the most powerful. Anyways, it was my sixteenth birthday a week ago, and Elijah allowed me to meet my parents. He says he'll tell me when he needs me. But until then, I can stay here with you guys. If that's okay with you, of course."

"Hannah, we can't let you go back there. Elijah lied to you." Damon said and Hannah was confused.

"What do you mean?"

"He kidnapped you as a baby. He didn't take you in, he took you from us."

"But Elijah wouldn't do that. He only wants the best for me."

"Look, I don't know what he's told you but I'm sure he made up a whole story. What did he tell you about us?"

"Well at first I wasn't alowed to ask him about you but as I grew up I started asking a lot of questions and he said that you guys were too young and you weren't able to look after me."

"He lied to you. Elijah lied to you your whole life."

"I don't believe you. He would never do something like that." Hannah's eyes started filling with tears.

"We were ready to raise you. We loved you so much and we still do. But he took you away from us. We were looking for you for years but there was no way to find you."

"But...But.. He said that.." Her voice cracked.

"It's okay sweetie, we're here now. We missed you so much." Elena's eyes were filled with tears too. She sat next to her daughter and wrapped her arm around her.

"I'll show you to your room." Damon said and the father and daughter went to her room. It was hard for Damon, knowing that there was another father's figure in her life. Elijah practically raised her and he couldn't do anything about it. He was replaced and it was eating him inside.

"You kept my room like this?" Hannah asked, her voice was cracking. Her room was untoched since she was taken away. Only now, they had put a normal sized bed.

"Yeah.. We always had hope that one day we'd find you." That wasn't completely true. Elena had lost hope a long time ago but Damon decided not to bring it up.

"Thanks Damon." She called him Damon. Not dad. It felt like he was being stabbed over and over again. But he was still happy that he finally had his daughter. When he looked into her eyes, he found a piece of himself. She had stolen a part of his heart. "Is it okay if I stay here?" She asked again.

"Of course it is. You're our daughter. And we're not letting you go. Not again."

"I'm not going anywhere, don't worry." She smiled. "Can I take a walk?"

"Yes but please be back by the time when the sun settles down. We don't want you getting lost."

"You got it." She smiled and left the house.

Hannah's P.O.V.

My mind was racing with thoughts. Elijah. Why would he do that to me? I trusted him my whole life. And it turns out everything he's told me was a lie. I can't believe he would do such a thing. He took me away from my parents. He kidnapped me. I trusted him with everything, I hadn't lied to him once in my life and he has lied to me abaout everything. My heart was broken because he was the only person that loved me unconditionally. I even called him father.
