Video:Mood music for the chapter.
We drove through the green landscape to my great grandmother's shack. I was glue to the window.
"I've never seen... anything anything so beautiful.." I said looking out at the green landscape around us. "It's so alive."
"Stop the GOD DAM CAR" I suddenly announced. The car took this as an instruction to do an emergency stop. I fell off my seat on my knees looked out of the window again.
"WHAT by the leather goddess of Phobos is that?" I demanded.
Kentro looked around.
"Could madam be more specific?" Kentro asked.
"That massive thing moving over there." I said pointing and jumping up and down at the same time. "it's like filling the horizon... the grey-blue-green thing."
Kentro scanned the area around me, he was clearly confused.
"You see all that stuff below the sky, but above the yellow stuff. It's like massive, green and moving. I mean it's huge, you can't miss it."
Kentro looked where I was pointing.
"I believe Madam is referring to the sea." He announced.
"That's a SEA!" I began "like water sea?"
I'm going to point out that on Mars we surprisingly have no seas. We have the occasional storage tank, even some pretty cool low gravity water parks but definitely no seas. In fact, I'm not sure we even have what you would think of as a decent sized lake. The biggest amount of water I had ever seen was a swimming pool. My friend Catz had one. I knew in my mind that seas existed but I didn't think they would move by themselves. This was amazing. Mind officially blown.
"Yes madam" although I hardly heard him. I was busily running down to the water's edge.
As I ran Kentro came after me and I was able to shout back at him. "look they've built a sandpit next to a sea for the children." I said thinking how thoughtful the people of earth were. It was a massive sandpit as well. The people of Earth really must like children. I checked for an attended or something to charge you money but no.
"The Sea madam," Kentro said "not a sea. There is only one." At this point, I realise that Kentro didn't know what he was talking about. I definitely heard of seven seas before.
"Look it's running towards me, it's coming to greet me," I said.
The water turned around and try to run away.
"It's running away!" I said to Kentro while pointing at the ocean "was it something I said?"
I walked closer "hello sea, or do I call you ocean bud?" I said.
This must-have changed its mind because suddenly he ran up like a friendly dog, Before I could run, back it came all over my feet to my ankles.
"Hey, your cold aren't you !" I shouted. "And you got the kids sandpit wet!"
Kentro came to the edge of the water. I got the feeling it didn't like getting wet.
"Look at it! it's so BIG!" I said giggling because I was becoming so crazy.
"Yes, madam."
"Have you ever seen anything this size! I'm including Dante's ego in that list" I said
"No Madam."
I let the water play over my hands. It wasn't normal water this was really salty like Olives. After a few minutes, I realised the water just kept playing this game of running backwards and forwards all time. 'Does water ever get tired' ? I wondered. Why is the water in a glass of water so listless?
