Scarlett's camp in area formally known as Algonquin Provincial Park Ontario  Down the lane, third tree on the right.

A couple of weeks later. I stood before Kentro as I always did before I went hunting. He stood before me motionless like the other robots.

"I don't know if you can hear me or not. May be you do and don't care. I guess your watching us I mean I only have to do something dangerous and you move pretty fast. It's more than two weeks after the end of civilisation we've been sorting out the water supply well enough, once that's finished we will have to concentrate on getting a more permanent building sorted out ready for winter. Any way I'm off to do some hunting, wish me luck" I said.

As always Kentro did nothing.  What would we tell our children? That once these statues served us and looked after us until one day they give up? It was a rubbish creation myth. I wonder what our children would think about all this? The only real upside I had thought was that this would be a real poke in the eye for all those really dull science-fiction authors. After all they wrote so many thousands of books where scientists invent robots/dinosaurs/viruses/what-ever  and then the said  robots/dinosaurs/viruses/what-ever go on a rampage and kill the scientists.

The only positive thing I could think was the widespread irritation to all of those science-fiction authors when they discover that the real plot was scientists invent robots, robots get sick of servicing humans and then walk off in a huff leaving us did you everything for ourselves again. I guess it really lacks the drama of the robot killing its mad creator.

I always found those books a bit irritating. The main reason was that if somebody wrote a book about a 'mad author' who writes a book, eventually this book  goes rouge kills the author, people would think the plot was a as believable as Jennifer Aniston's boobs. Yet when you say it about scientists it's suddenly so believable. You keep asking yourself what it was that Louis Pasteur, Marie Curie, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Dr. Emmett Brown did that made someone look at them and go 'yep just a robot/monster/virus/android rampage away from being dropped in a wooden box'?

It's not like the top 4 most dangerous books , Das kapital, Mein Kampf , The thought's of chairman Mao or Beyond Good and Evil were written by scientists. Why does no one ever have a story were a mad philosopher writes a book which creates a global conflict which kills everyone? It's not like it hasn't happened? I looked at Kentro, I should be out hunting food not ranting about second-rate science-fiction in my head.

I walked off into the forest. I had come to realize the purpose of entertainment was to stop us from obsessing about our own thoughts all the time. Like the failings of science fiction.  If we stuck to plan, in about 40 years we could re-invent live theater. Then we would have to go through a period where the only thing to watch was badly remembered Broadway musicals and eventually we would come to some kind of Renaissance. Hopefully, then we will be technologically advanced enough to reinvent television, perhaps we would just bypass television and jump straight to the Internet.

Leo had suggested we could possibly invent a mechanical Internet where every settlement was connected to every other settlement by a network of moving washing lines. Hanging from the washing lines would be photographs of cats constantly moving round. That way we get Tumblr back with out having to reinvent the transistor.

George had then wondered if we could have traps which caught tiny birds and attached small messages of say 128 characters to their legs. People would write tiny messages attach them to the birds legs and release them for others to catch. This way people could say things like 'I don't know about you but, I'm feeling 22' and so on. If you found a message you liked you could copy it and 're' release it on another bird. This way we would have Twitter again and it would be like civilization was back (mostly). I guess it could work,it could go out on a mechanical version of kickstarter which we would have build first.
