B2/Chapter 13/Overman's curve

I paused. I had jumped short and landed hanging from the edge of the next container. I was lodged in the gap between separate carriages.

"Hit my ass" I said hanging from my eletro-gloves. " and that's not an invitation. I'm fine bud."

The bridge passed and then we dove into a tunnel. Jonh crawled forward and put his head over the edge of the train.

"Never ever do that again. I thought I had lost you. " said John.

If truth be told John had lost me a long time ago.

"Eyes on the ground says The guard drones have pulled away." said Kentro relaying a text from FirefoxFive. If they could not get to us before the tunnel they could not reach us. I'm guess the robot command were covering the train behind a mask of normality.

While I waited for tunnel to pass I hung and noticed a hatch. Curious checked for electronics found non and and opened the simple hatch. I turned my helmet light on and looked into the darkness. I almost jumped back there were dead faces looking back at me. It took me a moment to realise. These were two legged combat robots they were all switched off in travel mode.

"Nice robots" I said "stay a sleep for aunty Lilly"

Who says baby sitting doesn't prepare you for real life problems?

"Control. The train is full of robot troops. I think they are going some were with an army bud" I said.

The tunnel passed and I pulled myself up. I walked along trying to guess the number of carriages. If each metal container was packed with robots like the one below we were looking at several legions.

"We so have to find the adult resistance, they have to know about this." I said. "Or better."

"Or better?" said John coming following me down the train.

"Or better" I said

"It would be helpful to know what is in the kuffing red container" said Kentro.

Kuffing - that was such an old slave swear word it sounding positively respectable. I looked back John was catching up.

"Robot legions. OK we have got that. We should jump off while we still can bud" said John.

I looked down we were not going too fast, but it was close. When we started the buildings had been close together like teeth in an eternal if crooked smile. The occasional gaps between Buildings were giving way to more space. Eventually, the last building would give up and there would be nothing until the great rock deserts. The train would began to speed up now.

I raced down to the end of the train, where the red container was. It was open topped as I got closer I saw it was full of robot junk.

"Kentro it's full of robot junk. Some kind of scrap yark" I said " Hey I think I remember shooting this one."

John was catching up.

"Scarlett I have to know," he said looking at the ground getting faster. "With Dante gone. do I have even the slightest bit of a chance?"

Kentro interrupted "Do you see a class 5 command bot? It should be grey with stripes Miss"

I looked down, there under another robot was what might have been it. I jumped in and pulled the other bot off them

"For carbon fibre these things weigh a ton" I said. Pushing the other bot off it. "I think this one was called General but it's got a huge hole in it's chest where it's CPU is.

"Miss if you could push it off the train it could be of great benefit you muppet" said Kentro.

John looked down from the edge of the roof.
