A/N We have another fun filled week for you. Hopefully after Monday (Celebrating a year of Cyborg's Pet) your appetite is whetted for Dante's continued interaction. This chapter is quite actiony ( for a change ) the following chapters are quite funny and really kick some story ass.
/Crazy Rock run/Swiss Alps/Europe/Earth
It was about 9:00 in the morning and the worse run on the mountain had just opened. Dante and I had left George behind having breakfast, put on our cycling gear and helmets. We were both padded up pretty heavily and our helmets were buckled firmly on as we got on to the cable car by ourselves. I switched my earrings into open mike mode with Dante. Kentro and Dante's robot Retro were left on the cable car up the mountain to the top where Crazy Rock run began. It would take them more than ten minutes to get to us before it was clear what we were doing and they would go all law 1 on us. It was the standard trick which everyone pulled and the robots were powerless to stop.
"Do you think they are watching?" I said.
"Quite" said Dante.
We were alone walking our bikes to the start. The sun had just managed to climb high enough and both light the valley with The first cool rays of morning light and drive the mist and moisture off the rock. I looked up there was no one around. It was cool, silent and supernaturally peaceful. The cable car went on up the grim mountain to the cafe which over looked the whole valley. An avalanche notice told us not to make any noise as it was enough to trigger an avalanche. I had a last look around. There was an absence of robots so we could get on doing dangerous stuff. A sign at the beginning of the run gave us the green light and both Dante and I kicked off into a push down a 60 degree slope. Honestly ski jumpers have it gentler.
We were now fully committed to completing the trip when our worst nightmare happened. There was an explosion. The snow above us suddenly started to dislodge and an avalanche started. Our only chance of out running the snow was to complete the course, jumps and all. We began to shoot down hill. I've seen moon rocket sleds launch stuff into lunar space and believe me we were quicker. The slightest mistake and I would be rolling down the hill like a rock.
Dante screamed and whooped with pleasure. The way down was raw naked rock with only the track markings and occasional wooden jumps interrupting hard ground. Before us I could see that the track dived into the darkness of the dense pine forest. If you could pass through path through the trees the forest would slow the avalanche on our tails. Something I never expected from the avalanche was the roar, like hell it's self was after you for all your lost library books.
Dantè took a longer John jump and actually kick flippinf in the air but the snow was catching up with us.
"I can see the guys watching" said Dante "they are up on the Eagles nest outlook. Oh yeah that's them"
"I'm on it I" said.
Peddling was useless and we weren't fast enough. The snow finally engulfed us, white out.
Well I say us. In fact the people who looked like Dante and I were Kentro and Retro. We had switched our biking clothes with them on the empty cablecar. Padded the armour suits filled out with any old clothes we could find and then sent Kentro and Dante's robot out with the helmet on to play us. We had made a good show that morning of having breakfast in our cycle gear. Kentro and Dante's robot had come into the cable car with us and we had done the clothes swap there. Kentro's plan had been fairly simple announced to the world we were going to go along a route which was widely known to be a safety hazard and see if we could get the thugs to attempt another attack.
They had clearly fallen for the bait. Kentro have been fairly certain they would want to watch and video the event. We had laid in hiding back near the start trying to spot the the thugs waiting.
