A/N - Ever had one of those books which just writes its self? it is one. We are not sure how this is coming over but it's just flowing out very naturally like we are watching it ourselves. Would like to get the next chapter out sooner but I'm having laptop problems. Perhaps appealing to people for votes and thanking them for the ones that have already been given will appease the gods. Hugs RK+Reb.
Catz arrived at my hide out dome of FiveDogs and she was met by my most enthusiastic hugs. I was partly very pleased to see her and partly I was my own. OK, I had Kentro for company, but I was becoming an old lady with too many unsupported out of date robots. That sort that is so lonely she says good night to her Echo-Dot before bed.
Catz seemed unlike herself, cold her movements full of stiff regret. Undaunted I took her to my new favorite place in the abandoned town mall of the dome. In the shopping area of the dome someone had set up a shop selling magic tricks. I quite liked the sense that someone on earth decided to move to mars in saying 'You know what they don't have on mars? Magic shops. I'm going to make a killing'. Then when the ecology of the dome was failing they had to leave all their stuff, no room on the emergency shuttle for a shop full of stock. I did my show, I had discovered that Kentro was fooled by the tricks like humans. It turned out that all robots had the same vision weaknesses people do. I did a few tricks on Kentro and each time he got fooled by them.
"So which cup is over the ball?" I said.
"The middle one MOFO," said Kentro. I had done this on the poor machine a few times.
I lifted the cup up. Nothing. This was more impressive given it didn't always work.
"Merd," said Kentro who had taken to swearing in foreign languages. I so had to get his speech circuits properly repaired. "I looked so carefully this time." he continued.
"So what does this prove?" asked Catz "What are we going to do defeat our robot invaders with magic?"
I noticed her accent sounded less Martian. She was staying in the green zone - the occupation forces area - almost all the time. I knew people were throwing a lot of crap at her for, in their eyes, being a traitor. There is only so much being spat at in the street you can take. So I guess she was hanging out there more. Catz had pointed out the more time she was there the more she could learn.
I shrugged "I thought you would like it bud. Let's go EVA together and you can try out some of the guns I got?"
To get here Catz had needed to take the hyper loop to the abandoned mine. From there was a secret route through the old mine which led to garage, where I could leave a rover. We had got started Catz had come out often enough especially when we were planning the robbery. I say plan a robbery it was mostly an inside job. The people working at the bank wanted to steal money from the invading forces and get it to the resistance. We were less clever bankrobbers more couriers. While working of the escape
As we suited up I chatted, would like to say we chatted but to be honest it was all a bit one-sided.
"I think we have an informant," I said To Catz.
"How do you know?" Asked Catz.
I buddy checked Catz's suit seals and while I did I said "The robots were waiting for us as when I met with the smuggler. The smuggler Han is quite cute you would like him. Someone must have told us about the meeting."
"Do you suspect anybody?" said Catz while she checked my seals. She didn't seem to be that intreasted.
"It could be anyone. Benny and Marko, but I've been wondering about Uriel. She just turned up. She told me she took her tracker out. What if she never had a tracker in the first place? She just seems too straight forward - dropped by Jackabous and wants revenge on him and earth. Sounds too simple" I said.
