Chapter 5
Alex
The first half of the day went by rather slowly. The classes weren't that bad, though it was boring as hell. No one bothered talking to me other than Jack, so it was good. He also lent me his extra pen, since I didn't bring shit to school.
It seemed that I was in majority of the classes that Jack was in--- English, Maths... It was sort of a good thing because I got rather comfortable around him by a bit. He isn't in Geometry with me though. I wasn't certain if we were going to be in the same class for the next half of the day. I'd ask him for his time-table in order to check, but I wasn't supposed to trust him anyway. Not much. Then again, I did get his number. Not that I was intending on calling him anyway.
We were busy attempting to complete our Geometry pop quiz when the bell rang. Many scrambled to hand in the worksheet while I struggled to figure out the answer for the last question. "Fuck this shit," I muttered under my breath and scribbled a random answer before I got up and handed it in.
I walked out of the classroom, heading towards the cafeteria since it's lunch time when suddenly someone bumped into me. "Watch where you're going, you piece of fuck!" he scowled and I looked up, spotting a student that was rather large in size. "Sorry," I murmured, deciding that it was best to not to offend him because seriously, he looked like one of those jocks at my old school. That was not a good thing. "You better be," he spat before pushing past me roughly and I stumbled back, nearly falling over but I managed to regain my balance. I found tears welling up in my eyes again and I let out a string of curses under my breath. 'Fuck, Alex, be braver for fuck's sakes,' I muttered before walking towards the cafeteria again.
---------------
When I reached the cafeteria, I took a tray and went to get my lunch. Once I did, I looked around, trying to find an empty table. I spotted an empty one at the far back so I went to sit there. I picked up my fork and prodded the pile of peas that settled on the tray with disgust. I decided to simply finish the bacon given instead.
I finished the last of my lunch and took out my schedule, examining the contents to see what my next class was. Gym class. Huh. I didn't even bring my attire.
As I got up and started to head towards the gymnasium, I heard someone running towards me and shouting, "Wait!"
I spun around and saw Jack, causing me to halt. He was panting slightly when he caught up to me. After he regained his breath, he flashed me a grin. "Hi."
I snorted and turned around again, heading towards the gym with him walking beside me. "You're in gym class too?" he asked. I nodded in response.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me," Jack said and he took out a slip of paper along with a pen, "we can see which classes we're in together!"
I shrugged and handed him my slip of paper and watched as he studied the two closely, circling on both of the papers before he gave mine back.
"The ones that are circled means that I'm in the class with you," he explained as I stared at my schedule. Almost everything was circled. What the fuck.
"Are you sure you got it right?" I asked with a puzzled look on my face. "Well, we'll see."
------
When the bell rung, we went to gym together and Jack went to change into his attire. Since I didn't bring mine, I went to sit in a corner alone and I took out my phone. I tapped my finger on the Music application, scrolling through my playlist before deciding to put my music on shuffle and 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' came out.. I softly hummed along to the instrumental before I closed my eyes and sung softly.
"Summer has come and passed,
the innocent can never last.
Wake me up, when September ends.
Like my father's come to pass,
seven years has gone so fast.
Wake me up, when September ends.
Here comes the rain again,
falling from the stars.
Drenched in my pain again,
becoming who we are.
As my memory rests,
but never forgets what I lost.
Wake me up, when September ends."
My eyelids fluttered opened after finishing the first part of the song and I looked around before I noticed Jack seated beside me, my eyes widening in shock as I flushed in embarrasment. "You... heard me sing?"
Jack flashed me a grin and nodded. I buried my face in my hands. "Oh no," I mumbled, still embarrassed by the fact that he heard me sing. He chuckled. "It's amazing," he assured me and I shook my head before placing my hands on my lap.
"Don't you have gym class to go to?"
He shrugged. "I don't want you to be alone, so..."
I raised a brow at him before bursting out into laughter. It was kind of adorable seeing how cheesy he was. Especially since we just met. I watched as he pouted and folded his arms rather childishly. "What are you laughing at?" he demanded.
"I'm fine being alone, just go," I said.
He shook his head. "Either you come with me, or I stay here with you."
I sighed and pointed at my body. "I didn't bring my gym attire."
"Oh."
I snickered before waving him off as he reluctantly got up. "I'll see you later then," he murmured and I shrugged. He went to join the rest of the class who were crowding around the coach while I enjoyed the music playing from my phone.
You know, maybe being with Jack isn't so bad after all.

A/N: So! I hope you guys enjoyed it. It's a slightly longer chapter than the rest. I think I've made it my goal to at least have 1000 words per chapter starting from now... so...
I hope you guys enjoyed reading it! I loved to update this story even with the lack of readers (or maybe there are people reading this other than my friends, so thank you).
Update: Ahahaha I couldn't think of a nice specific title for this chapter, so it's called Chapter 5 because I'm so creative.
