Chapter 23

Jack

(Still the day that Alex got discharged)

I sat on the comfortable mattress of Alex's bed, his electric guitar in my hands, and my electric guitar in his. I went to bring mine earlier, deciding to swap our guitars and have a guitar duel (just for the sake of passing time and having fun). Neither of us had won, we were just tied in a draw but I must adimt, Alex was pretty fucking good. No, he was more than that. He was brilliant, compared to my shitty guitar skills.

Now we were just looking through his lyric book and figuring out the rhythm, melody and everything. Currently, we're working on a song that Alex wrote about him and I called 'Time-Bomb', which is a really radical name accompanied with beautiful lyrics. Soon, we had finished composing the tune and we began to play (and sing of course).

I started to strum the first few chords of the song before Alex began singing in the angelic voice of his,

"Oh, oh. Oh, oh.

Oh, oh. Oh, oh.

From the get-go I knew this was hard to hold,

like a crash the whole thing spun out of control.

Oh, on a wire, we were dancing.

Two kids, no consequences.

Pull the trigger without thinking,

there's only one way down this road.

It was like a time-bomb set into motion,

we knew that we were destined to explode

and if I had to pull you out of the wreckage,

you know I'm never gonna let you go.

We're like a time-bomb,

gonna lose it, let's defuse it.

Baby, we're like a time-bomb,

but I need it, wouldn't have it any other way

Well there's no way out of this so let's stay in

Every storm that comes also comes to an end

Oh, resistance is useless

Just two kids, stupid and fearless.

Like a bullet shooting the lovesick,

there's only one way down this road.

It was like a time-bomb set into motion,

we knew that we were destined to explode.

And if I had to pull you out of the wreckage,

you know I'm never gonna let you go

We're like a time-bomb,

gonna lose it, let's diffuse it.

Baby, we're like a time-bomb

but I need it, wouldn't have it any other way."

We were about to head to the bridge, and I noticed Alex staring at me and grinning. I looked up, as I strummed on my guitar, and flashed him a grin back. He was so cute. So very cute. He closed his eyes again and continued,

"Got my heart, in your hands.

Like a time-bomb ticking.

It goes off, we start again.

When it breaks we fix it.

Got your heart, in my hands.

Like a time-bomb ticking.

We should know better,

but we won't let go.

It was like a time-bomb set into motion,

we knew that we were destined to explode.

And if I had to pull you out of the wreckage,

you know I'm never gonna let you let me go.

Like a time-bomb,

gonna lose it, let's diffuse it.

Baby, we're like a time-bomb.

But I need it, wouldn't have it any other way."

I rested his guitar on my lap and he did the same on his, a wide grin present in both of our faces. "Shit, we need to start a band," Alex said and my eyes lit up. Wanting to start a band was my dream, with Fall Out Boy, Blink-182, Green Day and a bunch of other bands as my inspiration. I remembered rocking out to Blink-182 in my basement when I was younger with my unplugged guitar, and I remembered the overwhelming desire to start a band with my best friends. And here I am, with Alex suggesting that we start a band. Holy shit. This was a dream come true. A grin spread across my face and I nodded. "We should!"

Alex grinned as well, though it slowly faltered into a thoughtful look. "We'll need a drummer, though. And a bass player," he mumbled.

"I know just the perfect drummer."

Soon, Rian arrived to Alex's bedroom, sitting on his bed.

"So this was what had happened to Alex? Dude, you never told me!" he exclaimed and I mumbled an apology, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly. It was kinda awkward to call him after all those months of distancing myself away from him but with Alex around, everything was better. Plus, I felt really happy to know that Rian wasn't mad at me for that or anything.

"I didn't know you were a drummer," Alex said and Rian laughed.

"Well, I didn't know you were a singer and a guitarist so," he shrugged and I grinned.

"So now, all we need is a bass player, and start our band practice someday over at Alex's house," I said and the two of them nodded in agreement.

"I have a friend from another school who plays the bass really fucking well, do you want me to get him over?" Rian asked.

Alex and I looked at each other, a wide grin on our faces. "Yeah!"

A/N: Shitty chapter is shitty. AAAAANYWAY. This is sort of a filler chapter. I've been getting lazier nowadays, but I hope you enjoy this.

Plus, school's started. :[
