CHAPTER 11: "You're Welcome"

B R Y A N

Everything was chaotic. The meeting for the Student Council was held in the Eastern wing of the academy and nobody can give me good suggestions for the upcoming Junior/Senior Late Halloween-and-Early-Christmas Prom on November.

". . . and we'll call it: Boners and Snowflakes! How cool is that?" Jordan squeaked enthusiastically.

"That shit sounds gay," grumbled Damien, the School Auditor.

Jordan glared at him. "Go suck an ovary, fucking prick!"

"Hey—I don't want to see fighting and hear anyone fucking swear in front of me again!" I roared. "But you're right: it does sound a bit gay."

"What? Got any better suggestions?" Jordan challenged Damien, ignoring what I've said. The Auditor didn't answer.

"I have one," Karen broke the silence that started to seep in. "Since this is half-Halloween and half-Christmas, how about if it's like, um, a formal costume party! Wouldn't that be cool?"

Jerry clapped supportively at her—maybe too supportive—that made Nikki snicker at him.

"Karen's right." Damien agreed coolly. I can see Jordan glaring at him at the corner of my eye, his face red like his nose. "How about this: Boys would be wearing a formal Halloween attire-slash-costume-whatever, and for Girls: formal Christmas attire, hmm?"

Nikki shifted uncomfortable beside me. "What is it this time, Nikki? And please don't tell me this is about your period. That's disgusting."

She shook her head. "It's not, like, that . . . it's just . . . I have . . . like, claustrophobia."

"Claustrophobia?" Karen said, confused, not that she didn't know what it meant but she was obviously lost to why her fear of confined spaces have to do with the event when we clearly have a large room reserved for the prom. I know because I'm also looking at Nikki the same way. Everyone in the room does.

"It means I'm afraid of Santa Claus! I mean, like, everyone has it." She twirled her blonde hair on her fingers innocently. "Like, even in my family."

We ignored her and then all eyes fell on me for my approval. I sighed and closed my eyes. "Apart from my hair and lips, my brain is the most important organ in my body, so I'm wondering why would I think about what I shouldn't be thinking about, it's tiring. And a waste of time." I declared. "But nonetheless, an idea is an idea, and it's the best so far."

I heard Jordan gasped, offended.

"Anyone agreed to Karen's suggestion: raise your right hand and say 'Aye.'" I said and raised my hand.

"Nikki, right hand. That's your left." I heard Jerry correct her. She blushed in embarrassment, or maybe even more than that.

One-by-one they did. Except for Jordan. We all looked at him. Damien nudged at him, giving him a look. Jordan rolled his eyes and grumbled, "Fine. I hate you so much, Damien." And then raised his right hand and said a rather unenthusiastic "Aye." Damien smiled cheekily at him and sarcastically said, "Love you too."

I clasped my hand and eagerly stood up. "Great, it's settled then! Meeting adjourned. And oh: I need my video for my speech prepared pronto!"

Today is my speech and I needed to do my rituals before I do.

On the way out I was escorted with my three assistants: Nikki, Jerry, and Jake (if I'm not mistaken), and on the way out, I've seen the blond dude whom I told to cut his hair or I will if he doesn't. I smiled at him for his obedient action.
