Prologue

He walked into my personal space making my body tense up. His eyes scanned my body seductively, as a slight grin appeared on his face. The aroma of his cologne drifted into me putting me under his spell. He turned his face revealing his perfect jawline, and laid his head in the crook of my neck. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me into a warm embrace.

"You were so beautiful today."He mumbled while inhaling my scent.

Before I could say anything he pulled away and kissed me. The kiss was short, yet sweet and aggressive.

"Why do you keep messing with my mind like this?" I asked making sure not to make eye contact with him.

It became silent as we both stood in his office. As much as I didn't want to look up the silence made me. I looked right into his brown eyes and got lost. He looked at me and smirked, like he knew once again I was under his trance. I quickly looked away before a red tint emerged on my cheeks.

"I like you very much Toni." He says rubbing the back of his head. I can tell that this is his first time confessing his feelings for a woman. His shoulders are relaxed but I can tell that he's nervous.

"These mind games and mixed signals have to stop Ken." I mumble holding back tears.

We stare at each other and I don't know what he's thinking. I've been around him long enough to read him most of the time. But right now his eyes aren't giving me anything.

"You don't understand what you do to me." Kenny mumbles still unsure about his words.

"Excuse me?" I state with so much attitude causing Kenny to bite his lip.

"See like that. Your attitude turns me on and makes me wonder about you. I've never been worried or been fascinated with a female." Kenny says shyly looking at the floor.

"You have a hell of a way of showing me that you care!" I bark back angrily making sure my words hit a soft spot.

"I know and for the longest I thought I could shake these feelings. But I can't and I want us." Kenny walks to me and caresses my cheek.

"Then get rid of her and we can be. I will no longer be your toy."I weakly say. "Well that means you have to get rid of your little situation too." Kenny smirks before kissing my lips.

I blush from the interaction between us. I gather my things and for once I'm fully happy. I finally don't leave work thinking about the mysterious Mr. Edmonds.

Before I can walk out his office he grabs my wrist turning me around slowly.

"I love you." He calmly said. The nervousness in his voice was gone. I could tell he meant it.

"You love me but you can't be with me." I replied on the verge of tears. The sigh escaping his body reassured my worst nightmare.
