"Sorry for being impatient. I just really wanted to show you this!"
James grinned, putting the book down on the kitchen table.

"It's my fault. I got distracted. Should I get Jake and Köleil?"

"No. It's probably best that just you check it first. Here, read this."

He turned the page towards me and I skimmed through quickly.

My eyes widened and my mouth drooped open.

"James...this is..."
It was a fully detailed log of the blue crystal Guardian.
In other words, me!

But the drawing on the side was clearly a form I'd taken quite a long time ago.

"James, where did you-"

"My Gran gave it to me. She said it was passed down in the family but she has no idea where it originated. Also, she was supposed to be a Warrior when she was younger so she knows all about us."

"This is incredible..."
I mumbled, turning the page.

'The Yellow Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Apatite)

The Darïaûs of vision and future. I've witnessed time and time again this young Darïaûs taking a stronger form and foretelling future events which, in turn, all were true. It never made a mistake.

Though this particular Darïaûs does indeed have an incredible talent, it lacks in skill and attack.'

Charlie...

The image up the side showed a young girl with long, blonde hair and Charlie's eyes.

"James...we need to find out who wrote this book!"

"All I know is his name, on the back. There's nothing else on this guy!"

We carried on, reading the first paragraph or so of each log since they were far too long to read the full things.

'The Green Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Emerald)

The Darïaûs of nature and the earth. This Darïaûs can manipulate the form or structure of any area and make plants grow before it at lightning speed. I've seen this happen in unimaginable ways. To the point where it can gut several men with the mere swipe of their hand, forcing a long branch or stem-light structure through their bodies. Brilliant attack, aim and defense. Always on the front line when they attack a threat.'

Myrora's old form (or one of them at least) looked like a very bulky man with a stern brow, again sharing her hair colour and eyes.
I found this all quite remarkable.
As a Guardian, I have no memory of my previous forms or lives so it was incredibly fascinating to look into some of our history.

'The Orange Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Jasper)

The Darïaûs of speed and time. This one was rather intriguing, more so than some of the others. It appears they can slow down, even completely stop time to their will. They can move incredibly fast, to the point where you can't see them. I witnessed, with my own eyes, this Darïaûs and the Green Darïaûs work together and create a fully functional tornado.'

This must have been a Guardian we've lost...some just can't make it. I've heard stories of people even purposely killing us at our most vulnerable. Why? Why would any human want to do that? All we've ever done is protect them!

'The Red Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Ruby)

The Darïaûs of fire and strength. This Darïaûs can summon fire without effort, from a small flicker in the palm to...unspeakable measures.
There's little I can say about this destructive being.
Just stay away.'

"So that must be Köleil. But...why are the eyes different?"
James asked, leaning in to examine the picture more closely.

"I don't know...maybe they changed because she's the Eclipse?"

'The Silver Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Pyrite)

The Darïaûs of telekinesis and stone. This one can fire sharp, stone-like objects that appear to form from its own body. It seems to only have six stones in total but will use them over and over against their prey.'

Baîk...yeah, no one really cares about Baîk.

'The Purple Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Sugilite)

The Darïaûs of wind and force. This Darïaûs can push their foe with ridiculous strength, even to the point where limbs will detach. A violent yet strategical way to attack enemies.'

Tsu and Tsuki.
Poor Tsuki...being a Guardian with practically no power could never be easy.

'The Pink Darïaûs (or locally known as Guardian)
(Kunzite/Morganite)

The Darïaûs of stealth and close attacks. Never let this Darïaûs get close to you. By simply placing their hand on your body, they can disintegrate your internal organs. All of them. It's a sneaky creature that hides in the shadows, just waiting for a chance to attack.'

"So, this must be the last one."
I smiled, beginning to turn the page.

"Yeah, this must be another Guardian that didn't make it since..."
James's sentence trailed off as we both saw the next page.

'The Eclipse

This one may not even be a Darïaûs. Their unlimited power is stronger than anything I've ever studied before. With various forms and all kinds of abilities, I'd suggest---'

We both stopped reading to look at the picture.
And there she was.
Köleil.
Delicately sketched into the book, wings and all.

"But there's...there's never been any records of a red Guardian...so if that wasn't Köleil, who was it?"

"Maybe it's been hiding all this time?"

I shook my head and stepped back.
"This is crazy...James, is there anyway we can find out about this guy?!"

James stood, thinking for a moment.
He then pulled off a locket from around his neck.

"W-what are you doing?"
I asked, staring at the locket as he held the opening mechanism.

"Opening this will bring a certain...friend I made recently."

"Friend?"

"Look, all I really know that is she's been around for a very, very long time. She claims to know everything so we may as well take our chances and see what she knows about this 'Dr Oaks' and his book."

"So...is she a Guardian?"

"Not at all. But she's...well...let's just say, she has an interesting personality. So be careful with her."

"...alright. Call her up."

We had to find out more about that guy.
We just had to.
