-Jake-
"So...what do we do with him?"
Nim asked, pacing across the room."I don't know. I wouldn't have brought him back if you hadn't made me."
"We couldn't just leave him there!"
"Why not?"
I shrugged."Tsuki attacked him!"
"So he got a few bruises. What's the problem?"
"The problem is that he saw me use my power! He saw your weapon, he saw Tsuki's-"
"Can you two stop talking about me like I'm not even here?!"
Tsuki snapped, standing up from her chair.Tsuki had freaked out again, but she hadn't killed anyone this time.
"Sorry, Tsuki. But Nim, relax. If it worries you that much, I'll get Köleil to wipe his memory. Just keep him unconscious until then."
I sighed, looking at the man slumped on the bed."But...what do we say to Köleil? She doesn't know about Tsuki, does she?"
"Just say he saw your magic. There's no reason to get her concerned."
"Okay...what are you going to do?"
Nim asked.I looked across at Tsuki and she looked back at me.
"...Tsuki looks hungry. She must be worn out too. I'll get her some food. You deal with this guy in your room. I'll send Köleil up."
"Sounds good."
Nim lifted the man over her shoulder and we all made our way out.Tsuki stared at the ground with her arms wrapped around herself as she walked. In an attempt to comfort her, I put my arm over her shoulder and smiled a little.
It was the only comforting mood I knew.
"Hey, don't look so down. You did really well this time. I'd even say it was one of your best."
"...I still hurt someone though..."
"Hardly. What's the worst you did, bruise his arm? Don't worry about it."
"...Jake...thanks..."
"For what?"
"Just...being there. Every time."
"Meh. It's the right thing to do."
I shrugged, stepping into the lift."Yeah, but...even back then, in Kakadelia...you'd come every time without fail. You've really helped me. More than...I could ever imagine."
"I do what I can. But...Tsuki, I...I think you should tell Susan."
"What? Are you crazy?!"
"She's been in the dark all this time. She deserves to know."
"She's nine, Jake! I-I couldn't do that to her! She looks up to me like-"
"Like a mother. I know. But Tsuki, have you seen that kid fight? I'd say she's pretty damn mature. Just...think about it. Okay?"
I asked, staring right into her eyes."...okay..."
We clunked to a stop and the doors opened.
Walking into the kitchen, I saw James, Köleil, Static, Tsu and Susan.
Lumai, Baîk, Myrora and Poppy were sat in the living room so I assumed the two girls that came with Static were still in their rooms."Hey, Kö? Nim needs you for a minute. Just head on up, she's waiting for you."
"Oh, okay!"
"Is she busy? I need to talk to her."
James asked as Köleil skipped past.
