-Jake-

"Any moment now, Jake. I promise."
Blank smirked, shaking her head as I continued to pace across the kitchen floor.

"Why can't you just tell me where she is? Do you want to see me panic?!"

"Kind of," She chuckled, "it shows that you care."

Blank was definitely the know-it-all type. Even if the others hadn't caught on yet, I could tell there was a lot she wasn't sharing. With that look and attitude - it was as if every second of every day she always knew something that no one else did.

And that simply agitated me.

I paused to glance at Köleil. She was sat in silence with her head down, not moving at all.

She hadn't taken the news very well.

I couldn't tell if she was upset, afraid,  angry or all three.

But at least she was in good health again.
It seemed like it'd been forever since I'd seen her like this.

I was just glad she was okay.

But I still couldn't stand it when she looked so lost.

"Hey, you hungry?" I asked, sitting down beside her, "Want me to make you something?"

"Nim always made dinner...she was a really good cook..."
She mumbled, not looking up at me.

"...we'll get her back, Kö. I promise. I'll do whatever it takes to fix this..." I smiled, lifting her chin up to look at me, "it'll all work out in the end. You'll see."

Her glazed eyes were transfixed on mine as we seemed to share the same thoughts.

She knew I couldn't promise that.

She knew I was just trying to make her feel better, I could tell.

But even so, she smiled and gave me a small nod.

I wish I could standby those words.

However, right now, nothing was certain.

I still wanted to do right by everyone. I'd give my life to make sure it all turned out okay. To assume that no one else got hurt and they could all be happy again.

But it just wasn't that easy.

"Blank, stay with Köleil for me. I need to go and rest."
I sighed, running my hands through my hair and making my way to the elevator.

"Can do."
Blank smiled, floating down from the sideboard and taking the seat I'd previously sat in.

Even if she was hiding something, she was good. She was a good person.

That I could be sure of.

Back in my room, I let my body collapse onto the bed.

How long had it been since I'd had a full nights sleep? Lord knows.

Unlikely I ever will again with this mess.

God, what has this world come to?

The soft sheets were more welcoming than normal, wrapping me in their warm embrace.

Maybe I really was wrong to send James away.

For goodness sake, Jake, that doesn't matter now.
It's over, he's gone, it's done.

He's safe.

At least one of us is...

Will hadn't done anything for a while, he'd gone quiet.
