-Jake-

"I swear to god, these things were made to suffocate people..."
I grumbled, endlessly adjusting the dark blue tie I was forced to wear around my neck.

"Well too bad. We have to go to this silly event to find Nim and Köleil."

"That's still weird to me. It's not like Köleil to just run off, leaving a note. I didn't even know she could write..."

"None of that matters. We have to make sure Nim is okay and that Kö isn't doing herself nor anyone else any damage."
James sighed, buttoning up his blue...jacket?
I don't even know what the parts of the suit are called. Is it all just 'a suit'?

Either way, I hate all of it.
Whoever invented the suit is now and forever my mortal enemy.

"...you missed a button."
James pointed.

I growled, yanking all the buttons undone and starting again.
"I hate these damn things..."

"What, buttons?"
James asked, raising an eyebrow.

"The suit, you idiot."

"Oh. Well, they're pretty comfortable. And the material's nice too."

"Comfortable as sandpaper..."

Static's voice echoed from the other room as Jasper desperately tried to convince her to wear the ballgown.

"No! I'm already wearing a dress!"

"Miss, it's hardly suitable for such an occasion."

"It's suitable for all occasions!"

"...I'd...have to disagree, Miss..."

Jasper wore a plain orange dress, tight against her body with little to no particular design as she refused to even attempt to match Blank's. She said it simply was 'not her place'.
I thought girls liked wearing the best dress?

Blank's dress was a bright, sky blue. Folding over by her waist and falling down into three neat folds. With white embroidery drowning the top half, a diamond necklace, diamond earrings and a diamond bracelet.

I know this may seem farfetched, but I have a sneaking suspicion that Blank may like diamonds.

She'd even let Jasper fashion her hair into a neat...um...girly hairstyle.
I've never understood these things.

Jeans and a hoodie, all you need in life.
Not even a shirt. No one can tell the difference anyway.

It was all curled and wavy, most pinned up and only a little hanging over her shoulder.

And I'll admit, it did look really nice.

Static however...still hadn't come out.

"Static, come on! The dance started over twenty minutes ago! We're late enough as it is!"
James complained, switching off the TV and lights ready for us to leave quickly.
"All the others are already there! You're holding us back!"

Lumai, Myrora and everyone had left before us.

"I don't want to! I look disgusting in this! I-I'll just meet you guys there!"

I sighed, leaning against the table.
"You guys go. I'll drag her out and we'll meet you."

"You sure?"
James furrowed his brow, looking nervously at the door a Static being difficult hid behind.

"I'll survive. Go on. We won't be long."

Blank, Jasper and James disappeared through a large portal, leaving me in silence.
