Always summoned at the most inconvenient times, Roderick dreaded any time he was summoned for a meeting, fearing his worst fears were going to present themselves in the most horrible way possible. Why he and Elizabeth couldn't share in the moments of peace that he often dreamt about, he knew the answer to, but he still couldn't help but dream. To so many, they dreamed of the impossible, but Roderick just dreamed of times where he and Elizabeth could just live normal day to day lives. To him, that was the impossible due to his own mistakes and every day it was like waking up to a complete nightmare.
Some days were better than others but whenever he was called before the Dark Lord, Roderick found himself drowning in the thoughts that happy endings did not exist. He could have the perfect woman, but their story was nothing but one tragedy after another, he was praying every morning for some good news.
"There have been no reports of your discovery among the Order," he was informed during one of the meetings, where he stood before the Dark Lord and the fellow Death Eaters. It left him to grow confused because he figured that someone in the Order with such valuable information would surely share it. If they were aware of him as a spy in animagus form, it was dire that it be shared with the others in the means of protecting themselves.
"Well, what does that mean then?" Roderick brought himself to question, even if he did fear the answer was going to be against him. It was Evan, who stepped forward, a smug look on his face as he looked at Roderick and then over in the direction of Peter.
"It either means that someone in the Order is withholding information or someone in this room is withholding information."
Knowing that he was being accused, Peter fell into a panic as all eyes settled on him in the room. He immediately began waving his hands to dismiss the accusation completely while shaking his head.
"N-no!" he stammered, his eyes filled with watery fear as he faced the Dark Lord. "I would never do such a thing! I would never withhold any information from you, my Lord. I swear my life on it! I am loyal to you, I wouldn't do such a thing!"
Meanwhile, as the Death Eaters were preparing to point fingers at one another, Roderick's gaze fell on their "leader" that continued to observe all of them where they were standing. Peter was practically on the verge of crying, while Evan was set on placing the full blame on his shoulders.
"How can we honestly believe you?!" Evan spat, venom dripping from his tongue. "After all, you were part of the Order. Those are your best friends fighting with those blood-traitors and filthy disgusting mudbloods. You used to spend time with all of them! So why should we believe that you suddenly did a miraculous turn around for us? Why should we accept your loyalty?"
The dam broke and Peter started sobbing, believing fully that his life was on the line, if the Dark Lord suspected him to be a traitor, he would be dead within moments. However, while Evan did bring up a pretty good case against him, it was the Dark Lord's turn to take to the floor to speak.
