LAUREN
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
The alarm clock constantly went off on the night stand of Lauren's bedroom. She was laying face down in her bed with the beige 1,500 thread count sheet hanging over her body. She was completely naked, her hair was wildly placed on her head, and her mascara had been smeared. When she heard the alarm clock, she groaned in a fatigued manner while hitting the snooze button on the clock. The time was 8:05 am and the sun was shining through her bay window.
As she struggled to roll out of bed to face the window, the ray of sunlight hit her eyes and she squinted as she groaned not only because she was tired, but because she was hung over. She had spent the afternoon shoving back happy hour drinks at the downtown Cloverdale bar called "The Brew" and this morning she had regretted it.
Lauren eased off of the edge of the bed and quickly closed the curtains to block out the sun. She did a quick stretch as she raised her arms as far as she could and ended her stretch with a yarn. She headed towards the bathroom and stopped in front of the mirror that hanged over the sink. She jumped a little at her reflection as she was startled of what she saw. Her hair that was once jet black and down her back was now bronze.
"Oh my gosh...what did I do?" She spoke to herself as she ran her fingers through her new styled hair. she had forgotten that after the bar, she took a trip to the salon to change her look. A look that resembled Rochelle."Make me look....make me look like this." Lauren said as she stumbled on her words. She handed the stylist that was standing behind her in the chair a photo. It was the same photo of Rochelle that the police officer handed her earlier at the crime scene.
"Honey, are you sure?" The stylist asked while chewing obnoxiously on a piece of gum. Her brows frowned as she stared at the picture and back at Lauren. "That color is so last season. Perhaps you could do more of a red."
"No. That's what I want. Make me look like her." She cooed while fantasizing the picture of Rochelle closely.
An hour and a half later, the stylist turned the chair around into the mirror so Lauren could see. She began to finger comb Lauren's hair, playing with the curls she had nicely placed with a hot iron. "What do you think, honey?" She asked.
Lauren began to play in her hair as well while staring in the mirror. "I love it! I love it so much!"
"Jaeson will definitely love this." She whispered.
Lauren had paid what she owed to the stylist and gave her a hug "Thanks, Susan. You're the best!"
When Lauren embraced her, Susan could smell the patron reeking through her pores. "Anytime, hunny." Susan released her embrace and looked deeply into her eyes. "Have you been drinking again?" She asked with a concerned look on her face. Susan was not only Lauren's hair stylist, but like a mom to her. Susan tried her best to keep good tabs on her, but Lauren was a grown woman and she could only protect her the best way she could.
"Susan, I'm fine." Lauren smiled, pretending to be in a joyful mood.
"No, it's not ok. You know you can talk to me whenever you need me. I'm always at the shop. Are you still seeing Dr. Green? Taking your meds?" Susan asked again while brushing the hair out of Lauren's face.
"Susan, please stop. I'm old enough to take care of myself. I don't need anyone to babysit me, tell me what to do, or try to control what I want to do in my life!" Lauren pushed away while grabbing her purse in the chair. She charged for the door, but Susan stopped her in her tracks by grabbing her by the arm.
