Dean's pov

"I'm failing."

It's been only a month since school started, and I was failing almost every subject. The only subject I was passing was music.

"Come on Dean, what's the problem, I thought you were going to try hard this year." Ariel was mad after she looked at my grades and sat me down at the table.

"I am trying hard." I ran my fingers through my hair, not looking up at Ariel. "But I lose focus easily, and the words just float off the page, I don't understand what my teachers say at all, and I'm sorry, I'm just stupid!" I dropped my head against the table, tears slipping from my eyes.

I heard Ariel move around the table and she wrapped her arms around me.

"It'll be okay Dean." She leaned down to kiss the top of my head. "I'm not entirely sure. But I think you have dyslexia."

I lifted my head, a couple tears still on my face.

"We'll get in touch with a doctor or someone, try and get the right learning techniques for you." She brainstormed. "I'll start calling around." She kneeled down next to me and grabbed my face, making me look at her. "And never call yourself stupid, you're not stupid, got it."

I nodded, reaching up to wipe the tears away from my face.

"Good. I love you little brother."

"I love you too." I whispered back to her.

She kissed my temple and stood up, grabbing the phone off the counter and going into the next room.

I stayed sitting at the table, looking down at my grades.

I tried to believe Ariel, but I just couldn't.
