Working on our Powers

Three a.m. and inspiration struck. Up top is Katie

Melanie's P.O.V

We walk outside and I see the sun about to go down. It is around 9:00 p.m so it is weird for the sun to still be up. We all stand in a circle. "Who already knows how to use there powers?" Katie asks us. I meekly raised my hand. I looked around and no one else did. "Awesome! Why don't you show us something you can already do. I went inside and grabbed my cup. I got another glass of water and set it one the ground in the middle. I raised my finger in the air and the water lifted up in the air. I moved my finger around and I small line of water was moving around midair. I looked at peoples faces and saw that they were amazed. I put my finger down but instead of the water going down it stayed midair. I imagined a line of water surrounding the group and everyone gasped as they saw the water moving around them. I lifted my finger back up and the water stopped. I started to loop it around my feet in a wide circle and going up and up in smaller circles until I was fully enclosed. I swirled the water around a bit more until I got the water back in the cup. "That was awesome!" I heard Sky say. The other people agreed and Katie just stood there with an empty expression on her face. I looked down at the water and I had the sudden feeling to touch the water. I walked to the center and got the cup. When I got back to my spot I touched the water and I saw something in the water. I looked closer and when I saw what it was clearly I dropped the cup. I was backing up from the water and the people were looking at me. The water started to morph into the person I saw in the cup. It was my mom. She looked at me and she went to touch me. I continued to back away until I hit a tree. She was still going toward me like she was trying kill me. I thought about how she died to herself. The reason why the eights have a bad name. Fear. Her name was Tiffany Cupquake. She was the eight of fear. She could make almost anyone fear almost anything. Even themselves. She grew power hungry and turned against the other eights. I grew back to my senses and put a wall of water in front of me and did my best to solidify it. Shelby was looking at her the whole time and she saw me put the wall up. I turned my face to her and mouthed, help me. She raised her hand and a wall of leaves appears in front of me. Katie is finally back from the road trip in her mind and sees me trying to run away from a water being while Shelby is putting up a wall. "Relax! Clear your mind!" She yelled to me. I did as I was told and the figure went away. Shelby pulled down the wall and I pulled down my wall. "What was that?" Aphmau asks confused. "That was the work of a girl named Tiffany. I believe you all have heard of her." Everyone said yes so she continued. "She can't make you fear anything since your an eight but she can mimic your powers if you are stressed, tense, or thinking about your fear. What I'm wondering is why are you afraid of Sylvia Creek?" I decided to write out my answer in water. I got the water out of the cup and threw it in the air.

A scene of Tiffany slowly killing Sylvia through her fear while she screams the words, "Blue will die from me! Blue will die from me!" I am sitting around a corner looking at the scene laid before me. Little me with the hoodie on starts to silently cry.

"That's terrible" Katie and Shelby say at the same time. I see Lizzy with her eyes tearing up and Aphmau with a shocked expression on her face. All of the boys are sitting there with the same expression as Aphmau. "That settles it!" Katie says triumphantly. "We are going to stop Tif!" "A good part of today is I learned how to use my powers!" Shelby said excitedly. "How do you use them?" Sky asks clearly confused. "Imagine your hand is what controls your powers and certain movements control certain things. So like bringing your hand up forcefully creates a wall or pushing your hand out sends a blast of something." "Ok I think I have got it" Sky says. He forcefully throws his hand up and when he does I see something being built. I gather the water from my cup into a small ball and throw it at Sky. The water splashes on an invisible wall. "Awesome!" Sky says. He looks at me and pushes his hand forcefully forwards sending a huge gust of wind towards me. I lift my hand up and over my head in a circular motion so a shield the covers my body and my face covers me. It is circular so the wind can go above and around and does not get stuck. When the gust is done I pull down the shield. "My turn!" Ross says. He is hard in thought until he moves his hand up and a wall of stone is put up. He pushes his hand towards Sky. Rocks are flying at Sky with amazing speed but Sky just pushes his hand forwards towards Ross the rocks are floating midair. No one but Shelby notices that I am about to interfere and win the match myself and she quietly laughs. I push both hands forwards and then when my water is right in the middle I pull my hands apart. The water goes sideways and hits both of the shields. I win I write in the air with water the water goes down and the boys laugh. "Okay guys its my turn!" Aphmau sassily says. She pushes her hand up and an ice shield forms. She moves around and ice forms under her feet where ever she moves. She pushes her arm forwards and a blast of ice is heading straight for Shelby. Shelby quickly puts her wall up and gasps. She sends out a huge vine that is as big as the ice shot and counters the ice. Shelby is trying hard but Aphmau is a bit stronger than Shelby. Shelby's line of plant defense gets driven back and Aphmau's ice touches Shelby's shield. "I win" Aphmau says triumphantly. I look over and Max is about to lift his hand up. I watch him as he lifts his hand up and a wall of fire blocks anyone from trying to hurt him. I see as he experiments with the fire and sticks his hand through. His hand is not on fire nor burnt. He shoots fire at me and I shoot water back at him. His fire turns into steam and I end up easily winning. "I forgot you were the water user! Dang it!" He says angrily. I look over to Lizzy and see her stumped. I look inside at the bookshelf and a certain book catches my eye. The Eight of Spells Book of Spells I run inside and grab the book. It is quite small. I run back outside and give the book to her. "Thank you!" I just nod. She opens the book and flips through the pages. The book must be magic because the pages never end. When she flips back to the beginning of the book there is a makeshift wand. She picks up the wand and flips through the book. She stops at a page, recites some random words that I could not hear since she mumbled them to herself, and a wall the looks like it is made of electricity shows up in front of her. I see Joel pull his hand up and a wall of shadows was made. He shoots a shadow out at Lizzy and lizzy shoots what looks like lightning out of her wand after mumbling a few quick words. They were tied until Lizzy mumble a strength spell and won. "That was a successful day! Let's go back inside and go to sleep after I show you the rooms." Katie told us. She went inside and we walked in after her. She went to a room with the shadow and the air sign on the door. "Sky and Joel" They went in there room. The next room had the fire and the earth sign. "Max and Ross" they went in there room. The next room had a snowflake and a wand. "Aphmau and Lizzy" The last room had a water droplet and a leaf. "And finally Blue and Shelby" Katie walked off to her room and we stepped inside. There were decorations in the corner that you could place around the room but I saw two already made beds. I choose the blue one and laid down. "Goodnight Blue" Shelby said tiredly. There was a cup of water in my room so I lifted the water up and wrote Goodnight above Shelby's head. She said sweet dreams so I morphed the words into, you too, and put the water back in the cup. I closed my eyes and had a dreamless sleep.
