Chapter 29 - Miracles?
The door creaked open, and I stepped inside. Inside my nightmares. Inside my deepest fears. I saw Tyler and Anna on the floor next to the bed. Tyler's form wasn't straight, it was slouched, it was deformed. His eyes were sleep deprived, his fingers were red from the habit of picking them in anxiety. Anna was sitting next to him, head on his shoulder, silent tears trickling. They looked up at me and gave a sad smile in unison. How long had I slept?
"Hey G." She tried to sound cheerful, but the anxiety in her voice cut through. Tyler, after that smile, didn't even bother greeting. I slumped to my knees.
"How long was I out?" I whispered.
"16 hours." She replied.
"What?"
"Logan drugged you."
"What." I cried in disbelief. "Where is he?"
"He collapsed from lack of sleep right after you fell asleep. He's in his room."
The door clicked behind me. Dr Henderson entered and a small greeting was exchanged. I stood up immediately, and moved to the bed. There, lay Skandar, unconscious and still. All sorts of things were attached to his arms and chest.
"Doctor?" I murmured just loud enough for him to hear. And he took the hint.
"The blade, it missed Skandar's heart. By a centimetre." He started. I let out a held breath. "But, he had lost a lot of blood in the process. The operation was successful and we've stitched him up. He's stable, for now. But due to the lack of blood, he now remains unconscious. There's no telling when he'll wake up."
Coma. I thought. He's in a coma. Because of me.

The rest of the week went in a blur. I was empty without Skandar. Logan was still in hospital, but due to come out next week. I couldn't survive without them. It was just like the hunger games. (Spoiler Alert) Katniss picked Peeta, because his calming nature was what she couldn't survive without. Every spare minute I have, I go to visit them both.
"Hey Georgie." Said Anna calmly, touching my arm softly. "You okay?" I answered with an unintelligent grunt. "Georgie, he'll wake up." She said, sighing.
"You don't know that." I sniffed.
"The more negative you are, the less the chance." She scolded.
"You're right." I sighed.
"Right, let's go." She grabbed my arm.
"What? We still have class." I pointed.
"Not anymore." She smirked. "C'mon." She dragged me all the way to my house, me whining all the way, and slammed the door of my house, then my room and swung herself onto my mint green covered king sized bed.
"What?" I whined.
"We need to talk." She gestured to get my nail polish box out.
"What about." I replied, getting the fake glass box stacked with every colour possible nail polish colour in there. She gave me a pointed look.
"Why Logan." She asked, grabbing the mint green, light brown, white colour, a few dotting tools and stripers.
"What do you mean?" I asked, lying onto the bed and extending my nails for her to paint my signature nail look, mint green and brown owls with green and white polka dots.
"Why did you choose him?" Anna replied and starting working on my nails.
"It felt right." She gave me another look.
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely." She waited for me to continue, as she finished my middle finger. She's just too fast. And precise.
"It's just that. I felt connected to him. I felt safe with him. We had a connect-" I paused.
"You stopped rambling. You thought of someone, didn't you?" Anna looked up and finished my last fingernail.
"No. No. W- What are you talking about." I stuttered as she gave me yet ANOTHER look. "Stop looking at me like that." I grumbled.
"I don't know what you mean." She smiled innocently, and moved on to applying the top coat.
"Fine. I was thinking of someone. Skandar."
"Knew it." She smirked. "By the way, did you know that when you were rambling, you were using past tense?" That made my heart skip a beat.
"Stop it, An." I blew on my nails.
"Stop what. I'm just stating the truth." She smiled another innocent smile.
That made me doubt. Doubt. Something I haven't felt since I was 6. Did I really choose correctly?
