They days flew by and before I knew it a week had passed in my new life. During the day Kagami came to the mansion to teach me about my powers. He taught me words and hand signs I could use to focus my power to either make it more powerful or to target something specifically. He had been blown away at what I could do without evoking any words of power, after a day training under him he told me I could summon more power than any apprentice exorcists he knew. It had frightened him a bit and it hurt to see the fear he sometimes had in his eyes, our friendship had taken a huge blow when he found out who I really was. It was slowly building back up but he still disliked Akashi and the others. The afternoons were spent with the demons as we talked about my past, trying to help me remember or simply reminiscing on the things I did recall. My nights belonged to Akashi. Sometimes we flew to far off places to be alone or just simply soared the skies for the joy of it. There had been a few attacks as well. Small demons battered uselessly against the barrier Akashi had set up around our house. I had been shopping one day when I had seen a swarm of small bee like creatures come towards me but they had simply sizzled when they got close to me, courtesy of Aomine and Kise, my guards for the day. There was no news of the exorcists though they continued to raid small gatherings of demons. Kagami told me he had heard no news about a movement against me but he knew they had eyes on me. It worried me. I didn't know what they wanted from me, did they simply want me dead or to use me? I would randomly remember things from my past lives but nothing major, I wanted to know more about the exorcist sect but Kagami was torn about talking to me and I didn't want to push him. Yes I was part demon but in his eyes I was also part of his brotherhood and he didn't know what to do. The only negative things that occurred were my nightmares. Every night I would wake up crying or screaming, dreaming of my deaths and being attacked. Most the time they included a silver haired man with wings and when I had asked Akashi about him I had seen his eyes blaze with anger.

"If you ever see that bastard or sense him at all, run Tetsuya. Run either to one of us or to a church, just stay as far away from him as you can."

That was all he would say on the topic and I had to agree. He starred in my most horrible memories and I would be happy to never have to see his face ever again.

It was late Sunday morning when I woke up to the harsh light shining in the bedroom through the open balcony door. I rolled over to discover the bed was empty. Akashi stayed with me most nights until I fell asleep and always came back in the morning or when I had a nightmare, it was odd for him not to be here. The bed was cold, he must have been gone for a while. I flung back the covers and walked out onto the balcony, looking around and sure enough there was a feather on the table. I picked it up and pressed my lips to it. This was his calling card, he pulled out a feather and left it by my side. With it he could find me anytime and anywhere, a system we had used from another time. Tucking the feather behind my ear I headed downstairs to grab some breakfast. Kagami was waiting in the kitchen, two disposable cups and a brown bag on the table in front of him.

"Kagami! I didn't know you were here you should have woken me up!"

He smiled at me and I saw his eyes go to my hair and his smile widened. I realised I hadn't even bothered to check my appearance and I knew from past experience I had ridiculous bed hair. I blushed as I madly tried to make it sit flat and this only caused Kagami to laugh hysterically at me. At last I gave up and gave him a wry smile. I was glad to see him laughing, I hadn't seen his smile since he had found out about me. Wiping a tear from his eye he pushed one of the cups and the bag towards me.

"Here, I got you a vanilla shake and a strawberry muffin, they're still your favourite foods right?"

I swallowed a lump in my throat and felt my eyes stinging. It was such a small gesture, something friends did for each other on a regular basis but things had been so strained between us. He cleared his throat and I looked up to see a light pink dusting his cheeks.
