Akashi's Pov
I stood outside, gazing up at the night sky as reports come streaming in from the other clan leaders in my alliance. I had given them all one of my feathers so they could speak directly to me and I would know their whereabouts should they get in trouble. The reports had us all worried.
Looks like he is slowly moving this way.
The exorcists and humans have had more casualties than us, I can't believe they haven't made a move yet.
"They have been holed up at their main base here in the city, I have a source that says they are up to something but he doesn't know what."
We will have to make a move too, he has attacked a few of our settlements, we have managed to drive him off but I don't like staying on the defensive.
I could hear the murmurs of agreement at Kasamatsu's words and sighed.
"I agree. Keep gathering whatever Intel we can about Haizaki's plans and be careful. Until we know what he is up to I don't want any large scale attacks on him until we are sure."
Agreed.
We will attack the small forces that split off from the main army.
"You know the drill though, any sightings of Haizaki and you escape."
They quiet that followed my words was tense and I put more force into my words.
"I don't want to call rank but you all swore to follow my words and I am asking do not engage. He is powerful and has been getting stronger every year. I am not even sure I will be able to stand alone against him. When he take him down we do so together, understood?"
Understood.
I breathed a sigh of relief, I wasn't sure they would agree, they all had their own reasons for wanting the silver haired demon dead.
"Thank you, keep me posted."
I felt their presences fade all except one and I bit back another sigh.
"What is it Takao?"
You're source, is it the young exorcist named Kagami?
"How did you?" I began and then sighed.
"Of course, Shintaro."
He didn't tell me directly but I figured it out from what he did say. I have encountered Kagami before in the past, as far as exorcists go he is all right. We have exchanged blows but never have moved to destroy each other.
Silence followed his words and I felt it fill with the words he wanted to say, the feelings he was too afraid to voice.
"Tetsuya is working hard. I don't expect him to fight in a war but he has enough power to protect himself and his allies."
I know how Shin-chan gets, he will put his life on the line to save the both of you, he has done dangerous things before, I worry.
"I know Takao. I will make sure he gets home to you. As foolish as he is he knows he has something to live for now, he won't throw his life away because he knows you will be hurt by it."
I could feel his embarrassment through the link as he cut it and I was left alone with my thoughts. After a few moments I felt a presence at the edge of my barrier but I recognized the power and waited patiently. Sure enough, the sound of footsteps came closer but I continued to gaze up at the stars, thinking of a certain blue haired half-breed asleep in our bed.
