Flash back
"Papa your back!"
I jumped into the arms of my father who laughed and swung me up onto his shoulders, his long red hair tied back.
"Hello Tetsuya, I'm back. How is your mother?"
"She felt sick again so she went into the room. Zaki said it's because her power is hurting her again."
"Let's go and check on her then. Remember how to put up your shield."
"Yep!"
I smiled and closed my eyes, pulling a shield around the two of us.
"You are getting so good at this, we will have to show mummy."
He walked us up a hill to a small cottage made of bricks. The window shelves were lined with pot plants and inside the walls were covered with books and scrolls. Kagutsuchi walked us into the back room to see a woman lying in bed, her long blue hair spread out on the pillow. Suddenly the water in the jug shot out and slammed against the ceiling, or more accurately a barrier.
"Mummy."
My father put me down and ruffled my hair before moving over to the bed and sitting on the end. He picked up the woman's hand and held it between the two of his.
"Akane, how are you feeling?"
She opened her eyes and looked up at him with a smile.
"Tired."
There was a rumble and the wooden slats on the bed began to sprout branches. With a sigh Kagutsuchi waved his hand and they sunk back into the wood.
"Haizaki still hasn't found out why this is happening. It might be my fault."
I watched them talk as I hugged myself by the door. It was scary watching what happened around mum. She couldn't control her powers and it was seeping out around her.
"I can seal your powers Akane, the ones I have granted to your people. It isn't a permanent fix but it will stop this from happening. You can still use your blessed powers but not the elemental ones."
She looked over to where I was standing, fear in my eyes and my knees shaking and she sighed.
"I want to be with you both again. Do it Kagutsuchi."
I watched as dad reached forward and placed his arm around mum's wrist and then when he pulled away there was a fiery mark there. I rushed over and dropped my barrier to give her a hug. She soothed my messy blue hair and kissed my head.
"You will have to be the man of the house and help me look after your mother now okay Tetsuya."
I nodded.
"I won't let any bad guys near her!"
With a chuckle he reached over and ruffled my hair.
"That's my boy."
We walked out into the small kitchen to see a man with long silver hair standing in the corner looking out the window.
"Zaki!"
I let go of my parent's hands and jumped at him. He smiled down at me, silver eyes kind as he hugged my back.
"You're getting to big to be doing that Kuro-chan."
"What's the news Haizaki?"
He turned to my father and bowed.
"Sorry to barge in master. The exorcists know about you. They must have questioned some demons and they now also know about your child."
